Any feedback on recent purchases on Point & Shoot cameras used at Disney. I want to buy one ahead of my Easter trip.

Thanks in advance.

It's not a cheap camera, but I am very in love with my Sony rx100 m3.

My husband and I have been looking at a good point and shoot camera with an exceptional zoom. We have taken our Canon Rebel dslr on our past trips but we don't want to deal with the bulky camera. We narrowed our choices down to the Canon SX710.

I just bought the Sony rx100 used. It seems great!! Any tips on shooting with the camera? Do you shoot in automatic or Manual. Any feedback I would love:-)

I use Nikon cameras and its Coolpix line is pretty good. Mine is an older model (L820) but it features a 30X zoom, which is pretty stout. That level of zoom comes in handy from time to time. Nikon's current offerings in this line include the L840, with built in WiFi and a 38X zoom for about $170. If you prefer a smaller format the Nikon S9900 has a 30X zoom with WiFi for about $250.
Picture quality from my Coolpix is excellent, and it has decent features like auto focus and easy to understand menus. I attached a few pics from my back yard that were taken with the L820.DSC_0019.JPG DSCN0033.JPG DSCN0039.JPG

From what I've read on the DPReview Cybershot forums...
One of the bigger complaints with the orginal RX-100 (there are 4 versions, now) is the somewhat slow default 1/30 shutter speed at wide angle. 1/30 is awesome for landscape shots with a tripod but can be a challenge in other situations with motion.
You may start wanting to figure out S mode to force faster shutter speeds.
A mode is also very popular with advanced users to use the big Aperature.

I'm more of a Canon person - the one time I tried a Nikon I didn't like it. LOL

I've been happy with my Canon Powershot SX260 HS. I've been using it at Disney World for 2 years now. It has enough settings to keep me happy - low light, aquarium, high speed burst, fireworks, snow and others.

It has a 20X zoom. I'd get this camera again for sure.

I bought a Nikon Coolpix in 2014. It is by far the worst camera I have ever owned. It ruined photos from two Disney vacations. Blurry photos, light streaked photos, terrible photos, and forget any photos that are taken remotely close up. I've taken tons and tons of photos using digital cameras since 1999. I take pictures of my family, take pictures for ebay, vacation pics, I'm not a newbie. No matter what setting I have this Nikon Coolpix camera set at, it never fails to disappoint me. I can take 50 pics of the same thing at all different settings and I'm lucky if two turn out decent. And no one picture I have ever taken with the Nikon Coolpix has ever been what I consider a beautiful picture. I had to stop using it. So I can't recommend Nikon Coolpix and will never buy another Nikon camera again.

The problem with recommending "Nikon Coolpix", "Canon Powershot", "Sony Cybershot" .... Those are all brand makes.
It's like a vehicle buyer hearing he should buy a Toyota and then wonder why the Camry broke when towing the RV...

In photography, it helps to look at sensor size and brighter aperatures.

I have the Canon G7x and love it. It is competitive with the Sony rx100 series. You have to be willing to spend a little time learning how to use and make the most of the camera's features, though. Also, Disney Tourist Blog just did a nice post on how to take great shots with a point and shoot camera!

Last year I purchased a Panasonic DMC-ZS40 to take on a trip to Europe and to Disney. It replaces a Canon Rebel that I've taken all over. I've been impressed with it. The range on the zoom is great and I've been happy with the image quality. I'm even happy with the quality of the video that comes out of it! There is now ZS50 and ZS60 in that line. It's much less bulky that the SLR and carries in the backpack or clipped to my hip quite easily.

I've always liked Canons and shots from a friends Olympus have always be very nice. The Panasonic is one I had not considered until I started researching. I'm not disappointed with it.

I have a older Canon Powershot. It takes better pics than my IPhone. I also have an expensive Nikon that is too big to lug around the parks.

I have both the coolpix and the Sony. The Sony is easier to charge the battery in camera and the coolpix you have to take the battery out. Both are good cameras

Just my 2 cents...

I have bought several Canon point and shoot cameras over the years and was never disappointed. OTOH, I bought a Nikon CoolPix point and shoot for my daughter 5-6 years ago, and the thing was junk.
