To clarify some of the Feb 1 changes:
If you have an existing thread on the R/T board, it will remain open until you close it, or stop maintaining it. Once that thread is closed, you must meet the new posting criteria to post a new thread.
As of today, if you are lacking 42 or more posts, you will not have time to post make-up posts and have them on the board on January 31. We are only allowing an average of 7 posts per day to count toward the criteria, and there are 6 days until January 31...so not enough time to make up that many posts. The total that can be made up will drop each day between now and January 31. If you can not make up the required number of posts, you will need to meet the new criteria, over the next several months, to post.
The "Where is my Thread" thread will not be updated after January 31. We will no longer be using the database/processor created by Caskbill. This is not due to any problem with the program, but Microsoft is saying that after Windows 7, they will no longer support the VB6 language. Meaning that the software won't run with future Windows releases, so we are converting to a manual system now so we have time to work with it before Microsoft changes to the next Windows OS architecture. This also enables all R/T Moderators to look at and approve thread throughout the day, as it eliminates the requirement that only one of us has the active database on their system at anytime.
The "Where is my Thread" thread will remain viewable for a week or so, and then be soft deleted.
There will no longer be automated PMs, as those are a function the processor program. You will need to locate and bookmark/favorite your thread, or use the board search software.
Threads will be manually closed when they reach the point of not being maintained/bumped. We still request that those threads be bumped once per week, and we strongly suggest you keep using the established thread titles, it will help avoid confusion. Once you have completed your transactions, also please continue to change the first word of the title to CLOSED.
Overall, the majority of the changes will be invisible to the R/T Board users, with few actual posting rule changes.
