Point reallocation???

I currently have a reservation for February 6-13 and was thinking I would rather it be the 5-12 to avoid the crowds that start for Presidents Day Weekend. If I do a wait list and it comes through, it would have to borrow the points from my 2016 UY (April). Then I would have to call in to cancel the night of the 12th. If the points returned to me show as borrowed points could MS then reallocate my points so that the ones left were my 2015 UY and therefore bankable into 2016?

I hope I explained this properly, lol! In my head I'm saying it right, but it's not coming out typed right

Yes, they would use the borrowed points towards the remaining reservation and if they needed to they could do it with a reallocation.

As long as the WL comes through before your 8 month window for banking closes.
What is your UY?
Also, after creating the WL, call MS and explain what you are wanting to do as far as adding on to the front end and dropping the last night. They may be able to do it without having to borrow points for the 5th, if points are less than what you are currently using for the 12th.

I assume you have some current use year points in the exisiting reservation, at least enough to cover one of the nights you already have. I also assume you are intending to wait list just Feb 5 and are trying to get one of the usually hard to get room categories like AKV value (or club level), BLT standard, or VGF studios, which could possibly have an issue for Feb 5 this far out. If you have to borrow for Feb 5, and then after getting it, you go to drop the night of Feb 12, then MS should take out of your exisitng reservation current use year points for that dropped night, which you can then bank, and when you make the call to drop that night just ask to make sure that is what is being done.

Also, even if you wait list, you should check regularly to see if Feb 5 opens during any given day, because often members cancel a reservation and the room goes back into the general inventory for reserving during the day because the room does not automatically go to wait list. Instead, MS does the wait list matching towards the end of the day and thus members can actually pick up a night online before it goes to anyone on the wait list.

Also be aware that it will be somewhat more crowded than usual the entire time you are there. The beginning of your week in 2016 will be Mardi Gras in Louisiana, which means schools there are closed for the week and many from that state head for WDW.

My UY is April and my reservation is for AKV value studio. My wait list was just filled for both the 10th and the 11th completing my week. Chances are slim for the wait list to come through, and I am fine with what I have, but if I had the opportunity I would switch. The night I want to drop (the 12th) was originally booked with current UY points and is the same amount of points as the 5th.

Sounds like all will be well if if the wait list gets filled. Thanks so much!! I'll give the wait list a chance for a few months before I cancel it

OK, maybe I am confused here, but it looks like you are looking to add the 5th and drop the 13th. You are waitlisting just the one day, right? I do not see a reason so waitlist the entire stay. You already have the 6-12th in your current reservation.

Yes, wait list the night of the 5th and set it up to just replace the night of the 12th. This way, no new points are needed. Give MS a call or send them an email specifically stating what you want to do so that it is clear to the CM if the wait list fills on exactly what you want to happen. I have done this several times.
