This is going to be confusing (mostly for me since I am completely new to this). I have a reservation at OKW, at 7 months I am going to try and switch. I have enough points to book first and then cancel but I have 8 points that expire first. Once I make the new reservation and cancel the old, is it possible for MS to reallocate the points so my 8 that expire get used?

And as I type this, I am not worried about not getting a room at OKW, so I will probably just cancel, then rebook so not to mess with points but it is a nice thing to know.

They wil do the reallocation you mention.

That is great to know, I had a similar situation myself, and just let the points expire..... It was only 3, so I didnt worry about it.

They generally will do a reallocation as long as it is not an attempt to abuse the 11 month reservation advantage. For example, suppose you have 150 BLT points and 150 SSR points. What they usually will not allow is for you to make a ressie 11 months out at BLT using your BLT points and then at 7 months allow you toswitch the SSR points for the BLT points in that reservation (unless you could actually get a new BLT reservation at 7 months out using those SSR points). Thus, you cannot do a switch that effectively allows you to use other resort points for an 11 month out reservation. However, in your case, you are talking about a reservation you will make at 7 months out and then switch other points into it and since you can use any points to reserve at 7 months out, they will allow the switch.
