i'm hoping to take my mum on our next florida holiday, i've been(trying) to research accommodation that will be suitable for 4 adults and 14 yrs old.. we have only stayed in one room with having 2 boys but our last trip to POR one room was far too small my boys are no longer little and they also need there space.

So a total of 5 people? You can stay at:

• A family suite, either at ASMu or AoA
• A FW cabin.
• POR or CBR, although you already know that it can be a bit crowded for 4 adults + 1 teen.
• A Deluxe Resort, slightly more room but still a little cramped if it's a regular room, certainly more space if you're in a suite.
• A DVC villa (studio would not work well if you things were tight at POR but a 1-BR that accommodates 5 might work out - especially if that 1-BR has 2 bathrooms)

Budget and resort preferences will be a major factor dictating where you end up staying.

coming from the uk we are there for 16/17 nights definitely looking at comfort so possibly 1 or 2 Br

This past December, my husband and I rented a 2 bedroom at Boardwalk for the two of us, our daughter who was six at the time, and his parents. The two bedroom had a king bed in the master, a pull out couch in the living room, and a queen bed, pull out queen sleeper sofa, and pull down murphy bed that was about the size of a twin in the second bedroom. We loved it! We had so much space and the kitchen was nice because had Garden Grocer deliver some breakfast and snack items to the room. I loved having breakfast in the room in the morning and a glass of wine out on the balcony at night. And the space was fantastic. It was nice for my inlaws to have a room that they could retreat to if they needed some time away from the chaos, if we headed back to the room in the middle of the day, it was nice that someone could take a nap, others could watch television, and others could get dressed and head to the pool and no one was inconvenienced. We all had space to do whatever er wanted. If you want to go this route, you could really help save some money by renting points instead of going directly through Disney and you could stay at Old Key West or Saratoga Springs as they are usually the least expensive of the DVC resorts.

A 2-BR villa at AKV-K would have 1 king bed, a Q and a full sleeper sofa in the 2nd BR and a Q sleeper sofa and twin sleeper chair in the living room area. The fold-down bed that the pp mentioned at BWV is smaller than a twin bed and is similar in size to a bunk bed. It is shorter than most beds and slightly narrower than a twin. I would not recommend it for a grown adult of normal size. The Kidani 2-BRs also have 3 bathrooms, which would be a great advantage.

1- and 2-BR villas have a full kitchen and a washer/dryer right in the unit. If you book thru Disney, you will get daily housekeeping. If you were to rent from a DVC member, you would housekeeping on a limited schedule over the course of your 16-17 night stay. UK visitors often get great rates for DVC villas directly thru Disney because they tend to stay longer and have a need for those amenities. However, those offers are usually limited to OKW and SSR. You may want to begin your search at a Disney TA in the UK. Renting points from a DVC member could become complicated by currency exchange costs and finding a member with enough points to cover your entire stay.

No sharing beds, but is sharing a room with granny ok? I'm guessing you wouldn't want to put granny on a pull out sofa?

If no one is sharing beds then you need 2 studios or a 2 bedroom suite. We rent points for 2 bedroom villas at AKL and we love it there. We recently stayed a couple of nights at All Star Music and we really enjoyed it. Would definitely stay there again.
There's a lot to take into consideration when renting points. Dave's DVC is a great place to start researching. Reputable company, easy to use website. We've used them many times.
