I just booked a trip at Saratoga Springs for President's week 2010 and was surprised that DVC has changed the point allocations for next year.

I haven't been keeping up with the news, but my first guess is they want the Sunday - Thursday people to buy more points to make up for the shortfall.

Also, I am curious as to why a stay in a Treehouse villas, with 3 bedrooms and a flat screen TV the same amount of points as a 2 bedroom?
When I was making reservations, he suggested that I opt for the Treehouse because of the larger size....not sure if I should switch back as the Treehouse Villas are right in the middle of nowhere (between Old Key West and Saratoga Springs)

taken to extremes, if 100% of DVC members decided to stay only on sun-thursday, then 50% of members would not be able to book a stay and DVC would always be empty on weekends. it's not that bad but apparently demand for sun-thursday is out of whack and they needed to adjust the point requirements to even out demand.

of course, any point "inflation" for sun-thursday stays MUST be offset by point "deflation" for fri-sat stays to keep the point charts consistent from year to year on the whole.

all discussion of the changes is limited to this thread:

no idea why treehouses are cheaper. poor location is a good guess, i suppose.

Because of the occupancy. Yes, THV is technically a 3 bedroom, but the occupancy is nine, which is much closer to a 2BR (8) than to a GV (12).

If you will have a car, I think the CM gave you good advice. You'll have a larger villa in a beautiful setting for the same points.

THV is part of SSR -- except for the easy walk to DTD from some sections of SSR, I don't see any difference in location. If you have a car, you can drive anywhere in WDW in 10 minutes from THV.

How the buses work remains to be seen, but SSR buses are not normally rated the best anyway.

A reminder that we are limiting all 2010 reallocation discussion to the 2010 Points thread.

Thanks.
