Point Increases?

We joined 2 years ago and I have noticed a big increase in the amount of points needed for the same time frame in our yearly visits. Is this typical?

How much of an increase are we talking about?

I don’t think there have been any major changes since they changed the number of travel seasons in a year.

You also haven’t been staying st different resorts/room types have you?

No, that's not typical. In fact it's almost impossible. Once points have been set for a resort the total number cannot change. There can be a re-allocation of points between seasons or type of unit but if one is increased something else has to decrease.

Perhaps you are looking at a time frame that might be a holiday week one year but fall into a non-holiday period in the base year?

They haven’t adjusted charts in a few years, other than the weeks related to holidays.

If you travel during the time when Easter hits, you will see changes.

Other than that, things should be pretty much the same. Remember, sometimes a week can cross seasons and if that happens, it could be more?

Everything is based on individual days. What resort and timeframe are you looking at?

As mentioned, total points for the resort can’t change but shifts can happen…meaning some times go up and others go down…which is based off demand patterns of the DVC owners who own at that resort.

Kind of impossible (except maybe a couple points for weekend vs weekday?)

What was different about your trips? (Whichever ones you’re comparing)

How many points was the first and how many was the second? (Probably more nights or nicer room/views or different time of year?)

They did readjuct the charts a couple years ago to reflect the changes in travel. october has become a more desireable month and points reflect it

Understood. I guess I wasn’t remembering the amount of points correctly. Im here now. It’s way more crowded this year then when we were here this week last year!

Beginning of December was moved into a higher category too a couple of years ago.
