Point Increases - has anyone followed them?

So many important items about DVC have been researched by people on this board. I was wondering if anyone has been tracking the point increase for both the DVC resorts and the Concierge Collection over the years. I noted quite a few increases in points in the Concierge Collection in 2002 vs 2003.
An Excel spreadsheet would be a good way to follow the trends. Has anyone got any information?

The DVC resorts have experienced only one point change. It was in 1996 for OKW. Some nights went up a few points and others went down a few points. No changes have ever occurred at the other DVC resorts (except for the restructuring of the BWV points into standard and preferred when it first began sales).

The DVC resort total points cannot change- so if some dates are raised others MUST be lowered.

The other DVC programs have no such limitation and are indiviaually negotiated annually. Thus, they are subject to wide variance from year-to-year or can even be discontinued.

I don't have any history of the changes made in the Concierge Collection, but I'm sure some can offer their memory of those changes.

The first significant jump in many years for the WDW non-DVC resorts took place from 2001 to 2002 when they changed the system and made rooms available by view and included the Concierge option. Previously, the rooms were ROH but DVC folks usually got a prime view. The difference between booking "by chance" and booking by actual view was sometimes a 90% or more increase from one year to the next. I would expect things to now stay fairly stable.

I haven't actually tracked the other options, but I haven't noticed any dramatic increases. I think the Disney cruise has been increasing yearly but they also generally also offer at least one "discount" cruise per year.

I think a big part, probably even all, of the increase was due to the economy and the slowing of Disney travel. Disney needs to recoup the cost plus a profit form the use of our points. With vacancy being the way it is, Disney can't get as much for our points, they needed to raise them.

I think that when the economy turns farther toward the good and Disney travel gains strength, we will see more atractive point requirements for the outside choices.

I certainly hope you are right, Rich.

Thanks for the replies folks. I have the charts since I became a member in Oct of 2000. I may try doing a rough excel spreadsheet
on the years that I have. It may be of interest a few more years down the road.
