Point in holding???

Hi

I have 34pts in holding that expire the end of November. It is my understanding that they can't be used on our existing booked trip in June-or at least that is what the last CM told me. She told me to book another trip. If only it were that simple from Eastern Canada. I am wondering if I should be trying to rent them?? Any help on this matter would be appreciated.

You could try to rent a reservation using those points, but it would have to be booked 60 days or less prior to sceduled arrival.

Can you extend your June trip a couple of days to use up the points?

They can be used for your June trip, but there are conditions.

1. You can't try to use them until you're within 60 days. This is based on your check-IN date, not your check-Out date.

2. There would have to be availability at the resort. You can't just swap the holding points for your current reservation.

If there is availability, you would be cancelling your current reservation and then making a new reservation using the holding points and whatever regular points you need to use.

Of course don't wait until 30 days to do this because if you cancelled your current reservation then, all those points become holding points. Thus you have to do it between 30 days and 60 days.

Again, this only works if there is still availability.

You can wait until April (60 days) and see. If not, then you still have until November to use them, or rent them.

I would imagine my chances of cancelling and rebooking are next to nil because we have a AKV studio SV from June 28-July 2.

I wish we could add on another few days at Vero or AKL however our flights can't be changed.

I guess we will look into renting them out.

Time to learn more about that.

One other question

Can points that are in holding be transferred or can they only be used for booking. Probably a stupid question but I honestly don't know.
