POG juice?

A few years ago Hawaii Magazine did a story about the Meadow Gold POG, it mentioned it was only available in WA, OR & CA, but that was from 2008 so things change. Some other stories talk about how the owner of MG ended up being sold. It's now locally owned in Hawaii as, Meadow Gold Dairies Hawai'i. I do wonder if there are issues importing this product - assuming that Disney is actually using the Meadow Gold POG.

As part of the story I linked to they shared some information about recipe for POG and how the magazine tested it vs the origional. It's worth a read. That said they said the submittor used, "Mix 1 cup each of Kern’s guava nectar and Welch’s passion fruit nectar with 2/3 cup of Minute Maid no-pulp orange juice. Chill. Serve." after testing that they suggested using less the 2/3 cup OJ. To be honest I like how they said "...Cheryl’s recipe came off a bit more adult than real POG. We wanted to add rum to it." - Rum and POG is a winning combination!
The Disney World POG tastes different to me than the Meadow Gold POG. I could be wrong though. Disney's always tasted a little more watered down, like too much water or too much guava.

I live in Arizona and can find the Meadow Gold kind at Albertson's, which is part of the Safeway chain. (I can't remember who owns who.) I was really surprised to see it there, b/c it's not the best of my local grocery options, but happened upon it not long after we went to Aulani a few years ago.

The description on the online shopping page is pretty hilarious, which is probably what's on the carton, and I've never noticed! I was just looking for the brand name. It has a phone number, if anyone wanted to call and find out where they can buy it near them. :)

"Triple fruit beverage from concentrate. The Magic of POG: In an enchanting world beyond the pineapple fields and rainbow gateway of Hawai'i, there's a magical village of poglodytes. Each day our furry little friends gather a trio of fruits - passion fruit, orange, and guava - and make a one-of-a-kind fresh nectar affectionately called POG. Before sunrise, poglodytes search orchards across the islands to find the best ingredients, next they swirl in happiness and sunshine, and finally add the secret ingredient unique to Hawai'i aloha - all that is good in the world! It's no wonder each sip feels like a fun Hawaiian party in your mouth. All three flavors come alive together with each sip of a favorite island drink for over 20 years. We're sharing with the world POG - a universal elixir of joy! With a big shake here and a big shake there, you may pour, drink, and experience a fruit beverage that can only be described as POG-o-licious. Perhaps tempted to save no juice for the rest, we urge you to finish the carton, pound your fists on the table, and chant with pride: I hog POG! Go on you POG hogger - drink til your heart's content - cheers! 10% fruit juice. Pasteurized. Comments 1-800-395-7004."

I was at Kona the other day and the waitress tried to tell me that the Lilo juice or whatever they named it (we all know its the same POG with a different name in many of the restaurants) comes from Hawaii and they didnt have any due to shipping issues.

We all know its a Minute Maid juice (Disney has a contract with Coca Cola) and they discontinued it.

We get it in our stores in the west coast all the time-and yes, Pogosas are a bit at thanksgiving.

I read somewhere that there is a version of it at Whole Foods.

True! We moved to FL a couple of months ago and I was excited to find POG juice at Whole Foods. It’s Sun Tropics brand. Sadly the nearest Whole Foods is almost an hour from our house, but I’d make the trip for the POG juice alone!

Disney has a video on TikTok w/ the recipe. Whole Foods has "Passion Orange Guava Juice" in Seattle but not here in Ohio. The Passion fruit juice is kind of hard to find on its own maybe that's the problem.

Saw this on the DFB blog:

POG juice is back at WDW.
"We asked the server for some more info on the whole POG situation and found out that due to the shortage, Disney changed their source for their POG to Nestle. It was previously supplied by Minute Maid/Coca-Cola."
