Darn. Wish I hadn't seen the photos....we leave in a few days for Pop and I wasn't missing FQ until now......lol

We have nothing bad to say about FQ. We honeymooned at GF, and wondered if we would be disappointed in FQ, but we agreed we'd rather stay at FQ than GF!

I wasn't sure about the Mardi Gras theme, but it really fun. From the fountain in the lobby, to the horse drawn carriages at night, to the boat ride to DTD we loved everything. It was fun and colorful by day, romantic at night, convenient to get around.

We loved the pool, even though from the photos it didn't appeal to me. We walked to POR every day to eat, or to rent a surrey, or just to enjoy the walk along the river.

We took the boat to DTD three days, to eat, shop, or just enjoy the boat ride...

Our room was very nice, the food court staff were great and always gave our daughter mardi gras beads and coins for the fountain.

Loved it. Loved it. Loved it.

Why are we staying at Pop next week? Oh yeah, $500. lol

You'll love it!

My DH and I stayed at POFQ during our DFTW & honeymoon and we loved it!!!!

We loved that it was quiet and small (in comparison to the other moderates) so we didn't have to hike or take a bus just to get to the food court.

The food court isn't huge, but its perfect for the resort. We only ate breakfast there so i can't speak about lunch or dinner. We had biscuits with gravy, eggs, bacon, pancakes, etc. ...they have about 4 or 5 stations with different meals.

Hope that helps!!

We stayed there in 2004, 2005, and 2006 and absolutely loved it! I like that everything is within walking distance and quaint. We ate at the food court about once a day and even though it's pretty small, we never had trouble finding a table and the choices were great! You'll love it!

now there will be four of us. So me and the wife will be sharing one bed and the kids will be sharing the other, does this look like a problem to anyone?
Also i know theres no balconies but is it feasible that we could take a couple of chairs out on to the outside corridor and sit out on a night while the kids are going to sleep?
Cheers Lee

My brother stayed at POFQ last year and raved about it - still is raving about it. We usually don't stay on property so he always brags about how great it was to be there. Based on his reviews, it was amazing.

He said the Mardi Gras theme was a lot of fun too!

Lee,
We stayed at POFQ last September and really liked it. We are two adults w/2dd's (3 & 7) and had plenty of room. My parents were also with us and they stayed in the next room - they also loved it. My dd's LOVED the pool, and the grounds and really nice to walk around. I don't see why you can't sit outside in the evenings, I guess it really depends on where your room is. Our room wasn't really in a great location, so we wouldn't have had such a great view if we wanted to sit outside. Even though we were in the furthest building from the food court, the walk over there was literally one minute. That's the best part about the resort, it is so compact. There are boats that take you to DTD and POR. It's nice to relax, walk around and watch them go by. The food court is small, but nice. My dd's loved the bengiets. At night, my dd's would go to the lounge near the food court and the gentleman who plays the saxaphone would play and all the kids would dance, it was a great time. Have fun.

In the grass areas in front of the buildings there were quite a few benches to sit on... you might be able to find one close to your room to relax on :)

I grew up in Louisiana (live in a different state now)
and have been many times to New Orleans (was there last summer)
and I really Love the POFQ.
POFQ has everything that is great about
New Orleans Architecture and atmosphere but it is much newer and
cleaner. You are gonna Love it!!

We stayed at POR last trip and fell in Love with the Whole PO Resort.
We visited POFQ and will be staying there on our upcoming trip--Can't Wait!!
You have to try the Beignets (fried Donuts with powdered sugar--warning--don't breath in whenever you are taking a bite of a beignet--it will make you choke). They are very Yummy!!!
I also really enjoyed the location of the Hot Tub because it was not right next to
the Main Pool but hidden in its own Courtyard.
We rode the boat from POR to POFQ going over there and walked back and it wasn't that far--
we were staying in the Mansions at POR.
Have a Fun Trip!!

I've seen people do this at Riverside plenty of times. As long as you're courteous if people want to walk past, just sit yourselves outside with a bottle of wine and just soak up the wonderful atmosphere. Have a great time! There are lots of pics in my Port Orleans website by the way.

P.S. I stayed at Days Inn Lakeside many years ago - it was a bit of a dump then, and given that they've now knocked it down, I guess it didn't improve much! You'll love Port Orleans in comparison.

We absolutely loved this resort. It was very relaxing. The pool is entertaining for the kids. The hot tub is in a secluded spot away from the pool which allowed guests to unwind. Food court had nice offerings, not too big. The grounds throughout the resort are exceptional.

clip clop clip clop clip clop...LOVED hearing the horse drawn carriage go by at night.
Loved all the things PP said about FQ. Will definately stay there again!!!!!

I have stayed at POR, POFQ, and CBR, and visited CSR, and out of all of those, POFQ is definitely my favorite! The grounds are beautiful, my kids loved the sea serpent water slide, and I loved that it was not so huge that it took forever to get to the main building. I've also stayed at WL, Poly, YC, and CR and although those resorts have proximity to the MK (or Epcot in the case of the YC) going for them, I enjoyed my stay at POFQ just as much.

What you MUST DO is go to the lounge and hear ELIOTT DYSON...I think he plays thurs-saturdays, the other nights its a white fella who isn't as good.
Mr. Dyson invited my harmonica-playing husband up on stage on his birthday during our 2006 trip and they jammed to 4 songs, including "Sweet Home Chicago", our hometown. He's very talented!

The castmembers in the food court will have a lot of fun, if you're outgoing. They threw beads & coins at us and gave my 9 yr old son a tamborine to play. ( The beingiets are tasty, too!) I find, like anywhere at WDW, if you are friendly and outgoing to the CM's, you will get extra "magic" in return. I think 80% of people who go to WDW (Disboarders excluded, of course) miss the magic just because they're uptight or on edge, just expecting people to fall all over them because the trips cost so much. Most WDW castmembers are making minimum wage or a bit more and dealing with thousands of people a day, most who are not friendly. It's amazing the magic you will get if you're nice to the castmembers!

You will like POFQ...its a pretty, park-like setting. The boat trip to Downtown Disney is fun...eat at Wolfgang Puck's Express and then go get a $3 grab bag of souvenirs at the little store across from it, its fun!

I'm staying at POFQ for 2 weeks in July. This will be my first time there, although I did go walk around a bit in December - that's what sold me on this resort. Can't wait!!!!

I booked a water-view room so I am also hoping to sit outside on the walkway and watch the boats go by. I am planning to bring a couple of bag chairs with me because it seems like those would be easier to get in and out of the door.

We love POFQ! We stayed there in 2007 and are going back in 2009! I have stayed at all of the mods except for CSR, and FQ is my favorite! I love the size of the property, and yet, it is still very peaceful and quiet. It is not a hectic atompshere at all. The boat to DTD is very nice and relaxing, and we like to visit the lounge at night and see Elliot preform. The pool area is nice, not the best that I have seen, but it definately will serve its purpose, especially for younger kids...they love it. The hot tub area is nice, but most of the times it is full, since there is only one. Have a great time! It is a terrific resort!
