Hi, we have downgraded our hotel from the poly to POFQ so that we can still go to DLP in March. I think it is worth it as it means that we will get 2 disney trips next year, I really did not want to have to cancel DLP.

I have read lots of good reviews about the resort so I am looking forward to it. Just wondering what are peoples thoughts on the resort.

We just loved it, but it was the first Disney hotel we have stayed at. My husband was very sceptical, but afterwards said if we booked again we had to stay there! So we did! :teeth:
It is a pretty resort, small, so easy to get around. It seemed quiet to us too, more so when we visited other onsite hotels! The main problem you may have with having stayed at a deluxe is that it is motel style with outside corridors, and smaller rooms, but really, that was no problem to us, and we don't stay in hotels with outside corridors normally.

We're spending 9 nights there in 3 weeks so when I get back i'll let you know :)

How funny - I've Upgraded to POFQ and you've down graded - we'll be meeting in the middle.

Hi - We have stayed there on several occasions and love it, it was the first on-site that we stayed at, so maybe that is why it is special to us .... We find it quiet, not too big. The food court is good and there is a small bar area where they have entertainment some nights, this is nice for a drink and an apetiser, they do things like chicken wings, nachos etc.

The pool areas is love as is the jacuzzi tub, also the pool bar is very nice - do you sense we like a drink ha ha

I think you will love it ....

POFQ was lovely when we stayed there on our honeymoon (that was 1997 mind you!) - however, it was a lovely resort with nice rooms and really lovely riverside walks/bike rides and a boat to Downtown. Enjoy!!

It really is a picturesque place. We were in building 7 which is about as far as you can get from the main buildings - and it was still only a 3 minute walk. Everything is close. Other sites are quite big and busy in comparison (I did a little estimation and our room was actually closer to the neighbouring PO Riverside main buildings than some of the rooms on that site!!). It is well placed for Downtown Disney (boat ride as well) and also only about 5 minutes from EPCOT and MK (you can see the EPCOT fireworks from the hotel).

Its great if it rains - all the walk ways are covered so you don't get wet picking up your drinks in the refillable mug. We looked around other resorts while we were there and some of them were so vast (Coronado Springs etc) it would take 15 minutes to walk to the main buildings from your room (half hour round trip) to get your "nightcap".

Have a check of my Trip reports - "Richard, Avonia and Victoria..." - they'll give you an idea of what POFQ is like. We've said if we ever make it back to WDW it would only be to POFQ (unless we'd won the lottery - then the only other hotel we would consider would be the Polynesian).

Hi

I dont blame you for downgrading. In my honest opinion a hotel is a place to sleep within reason. We love WDW hotels but had to change from All Star Movies to Port Orleans Riverside due to our family size of 5. If we could all fit in I am sure we would of stayed in ASMo again, but at least it forces us a change of hotel. I would not pay for Poly if it meant sacrificing DLP. If we could afford both I would book Poly and also go to DLP.

Have a great time.

I love this hotel :teeth: We stayed here in September 2004, it has as much Disney magic as the deluxe hotels. The pool, food court, and bus stops are just a short walk. The rooms are beautifully themed too. If you have time try the boat ride to DTD.

oooh! you're all making me so excited now, I can't wait until my second week at WDW when we move to POFQ

Hi, thank you for your positive replys, I am really looking forward to our trip. I've looked at lots of pictures and it looks really nice.

Me too as this is one of our possible choices as a family of 5 :)

Just back from the POFQ. Great holiday, the hotel is very nice. We have stayed in deluxe, moderate and value and we can tell the diffrence.
When we stayed at the AKL we fell in love with the place, I would stay again at POFQ but I would LOVE to stay at the AKL again.

I am sure you will have a great time at pofq, but in my opinion having stayed at AKL and visited the G.F and Poly you can tell the difference.
