POFQ worth the extra money?

Staying at POFQ in 54 days!!! But, during a minor home emergency we thought was going to cost much more to fix, I looked up how much it would be to switch to ASSp and it would save us 500$ (850 instead of 1344)

We don't need to do this now, as we were able to find a less expensive and better fix for the emergency, but I keep thinking that we could still save 500$. I've never stayed at POFQ, so I'm wondering if it's worth the difference in $ I love the idea of having the boat to DTD because I dislike the bus ride home from DTD with a 20 month old (with the extra stops!) and to be honest, we are having a hard time fitting 5 sit down meals into our days. With a 20 month old, it's easier to eat when he's hungry instead of having to be there for a certain time for ADRs.

So, I figure we could have two table service breakfast for around 100$ and still save 400$. I just need to figure out if the upgrade on the queen sized beds, smaller resort, lovely theming and boat are worth it!

I've stayed at ASSp, POP, CBR and CSR and have enjoyed them all.

What would you do?

I love POFQ, it is my favorite moderate. I like having a refrigerator in the room which the values don't have unless you pay extra, I like the boat ride, and I think the pool area is great for little kids. The resort of small and you can get around it easily with a stroller and I say if moving up to a moderate will save you 500 do it. I guess you would be getting a different dining plan then? I don't do dining plans with little kids because they work on a different time schedule.

Have fun.

Thanks! I forgot about the fridge and that would be handy for the milk. We got by last time with the ice bucket at ASSp. We would be giving up the regular dining plan for the QSDP, but that doesn't worry me too much. I actually prefer the QS dining with my son that way we don't have to worry about being certain places at certain times for our reservations.

But I also think POFQ looks lovely and I love the boat and I would certainly love to try a new resort!

I've stayed at POFQ the past two years. I absolutely love it there. It's beautiful and compact. The boat is one of my favorite perks as we like to go to DTD to end most of our days. It's a beautiful ride at night. :)

We never second guess or compromise our resort....it's a vacation, maybe once a year or lifetime.....I wouldn't want to go and then say, oh, I wish we were at such and such resort....what we set our minds to in the beginning, we'll find a way to accommodate our wishes...never want to travel 1100 miles to a second guess resort....and the values do nothing for us....POFQ, never stayed there but do visit alot...like some of the servings in the food court (and we usually stay at WL) like the entertainer in the Scat Cat Club and especially taking the boat to DTD, a walk thru, maybe a movie and then busing back to WL.....I'd go with POFQ over any other mod and especially over a value no matter the cost...

I was thinking about this same thing. We are booked at POP for January. I'd love to stay at POFQ but the cost seems too much. We have free dining upgraded to DDP but even without having to pay that upgrade charge the difference is still about $400. We spend most of our time in the parks so one reason I'm hesitant at paying more. Also seems that we could spend that $400 in other ways. Still, would love to be able to stay at POFQ.

Yes, the boat ride is a nice relaxing trip. We often go to DTD to shop and then to POR to eat there. The create your own pasta is great!!

We just got back from POFQ and LOVED it! The small size was awesome after a long day in the parks, and our family of 4 just can't fit in 2 double beds anymore. The bus service was the best of any resort we have stayed at so far. It was great to be able to take the boat or walk right over to Riverside too, and have access to all of the amenities there as well.

Yes. I think it's worth it. Especially with a little one. I foundthat we really needed the fridge for DS stuff like milk, Yogurt, etc. If you add that to a value, your savings goes down. Also, do not underestimate the power of a queen size bed. Unless you're getting a king, value resorts have double beds, and I just can't sleep comfortably with dh on a double bed. For that reason alone I'd pay for POFQ! :)

As for the TS meals, we usually schedule one for our arrival night and 2 early character breakfasts. That way there aren't too many evening ADRs to worry about making.

Now I can't seem to make the leap and spend the $$ for deluxe, but I do it for the POFQ.

All that being said, if I HAD to, I'd totally stay value. I wouldn't sleep but at least I'd be at Disney ;)

Thanks for all the replies! I've decided to stay with POFQ. I'm so excited to try it out.

I don't think you will be disappointed. Another thing that will make it worth it to you are the dedicated bus routes and opening and closing. It's nice to hop on the bus and go to the one stop.

During the day, the buses are sometimes shared but nothing horrific.

Checking in to POFQ in 14 days :cool1:

Yes, it is worth it for all the above mentioned conveniences.

We have to get 2 rooms b/c of 5 person family and we still get connecting at POFQ instead of connecting at POP. We just love POFQ and it is that worth it.

have stayed Value several times (POP) and POFQ many times. Would NOT go back to Value resort at this point (We'd probably stay off-site if could not stay at least moderate.)

POFQ is beautiful...peaceful. Even the pool-side rooms are not loud. The theming is awesome for kids or adults. The size is wonderfully easy to get around when you're tired at the end of a long day in the parks.

The boat transportation is fun (and relaxing) If you're doing quick service meals a lot...my suggestion is hop the boat to sister-resort Riverside. The counter service restaurant up there is about twice as big as French Quarter, and a lot more choices (we love the pick your own pasta bar combinations) And note: there may be a lot of people in line at the boat dock and look like you'll have a long wait to get on...but most of the people will be going to downtown Disney. The boat captain will ask for people going just to Riverside, and you'll go to the front of the line & board the Riverside boat:thumbsup2

My post from earlier today... Our stories are eerily similar!

I caved...switched us from ASSP to POFQ!
We are going Xmas week. Here's how I rationalized the extra $501.20...

*Half as many rooms at FQ as compared to ASSp (1000 vs 2000 ish)
*Bigger room
*Queen beds rather than Full
*2 sinks
*Fridge
*Coffee pot
*Theme is more appealing to us
*Boat to DD (buses are always a pain here for us)
*Beignets!
ETA*Hot tub! (not a bad idea for a December trip) Pool Slide! (just in case it is warm enough for a swim)

So excited!

I don't feel like changing my ticker, so pretend it says POFQ!

Arriving in 21 days!

If you need the extra space and a bigger bed, it's worth it. If you want to put that $500 toward something else (like a few AWESOME signature meals) it's not. I usually say go big or go value. I don't find the difference between a mod and a value to be big enough to justify the price, but the difference between a value and a deluxe is huge.

But, I will say, POFQ is a gorgeous resort.
