I am planning my Dec trip for me and my family and we've decided to stay at one of the Port Orleand resorts. I was looking at pictures from each of the resorts and I saw that there is no TV hutch in the POFQ rooms. There is simply a TV that is placed on a dresser???:confused3 It just seemed a little ugly and wierd to see that. Is this the way that it is to date, or are these just old pictures?
Thanks!:yay:

When I was there last, Sept 06, they were still on the dresser. But at least there not the ugly bars that the armoires have on them at CSR.

We have never stayed at POFQ so I cannot comment about the TV but we love to visit this resort. We usually try to get there at least once per visit. I really like the theming of the place and off the lobby there is a little club called the Skat Kat club and there is a great man that performs there. His name is Elliot Dyson (SP) and he is there in the evenings from about 8:00 on. He plays all different types of music. Even is are not staying there we go over and get something to eat at the Food Court or a drink from the bar and listing to him. He is not for adults only either. He love talking with all the kids and they up and dance. He has a great way of remembering everyones name and put the names in the songs.

We are hoping for a wedding in WDW next year and we are chosing PEFQ as one where our guests will stay.

Linda

Did you enjoy your stay at POFQ? And have you been to POR? Sorry for all the questions?:goodvibes

I love POFQ, we ate at Boatwrights one night. I won't repeat that. There are so many great places to eat on property, too bad this isn't one of them.

Things I love at POFQ:

1. Boat to DTD.
2. Only 7 buildings, smallest mod on property.
3. Has its own bus stop at MK in the evening.
4. Beignets in the food court.
5. Scat Cat Lounge.
6. Secluded hot tub.

We have stayed there many times- We consider it the best Moderate resort-and we have stayed in them all. It is more compact that Riverside, and especially Caribbean Beach and Coronado Springs. You walk forever in those 3 to get your breakfast. The slide in the pool is great for kids. The bus stop picks you up first, even though you have to travel through the extremely long Riverside- at least you are sitting down, and it drops you off first. We are going again in September and again in November and I was thrilled to be able to obtain discounts for both dates.

Good luck with your wedding Linda!! I really like the grounds and the building architecture of POFQ better that POR. But when I saw the pics, and the TV on the dresser, it just threw me off. I found it very unlike Disney to have something like that. I've stayed at the POP, and even they have TV hutches!:confused3

I've stayed at pofq and we are staying there again in september. I love that the resort is so small. it's so easy to walk anywhere. Pool/food court/ front desk/ buses. I really love the resort, and the grounds are really beautiful. I do recall the tvs being on a dresser but that doesn't really bother me at all. The rooms are nice and I do like that there is a curtain to break it up a bit (where the sinks are). it's also nice to sit in front of the river and take the boat to dtd. I would definately recommend this resort!

tricia.

Have stayed at POR, CBR and POFQ and POFQ is our favoite, hands down! It is the smallest of all the mods. It is beautifully themed and landscaped. At Christmas, it is just beautiful. There is not a bad building on property. The rooms are really nice since the re-model. It is a short walk from any building to the food court, the gift shop, bus stop and front desk. The CMs here are fantastic and very helpful and alot of fun. It is a short walk to POR to go to the swimming area, (POR and POFQ are sister resorts and so you can use the facilities at both), the gift shop at POR is larger than FQ, as is the food court, but we prefer the FQ. Gotta love the beniets!!! We never get preferred rooms here because everything is so close.
The buses are wonderful. We have never had to wait more than 10 minutes for any of the buses. POFQ is the first stop coming and going to the parks.
There is also a boat that takes you to POR and DTD. It is a very nice way to relax.
I would recommend this resort to anyone!!! It is a wonderful vacation spot!!!

Thank you disgram for your reply! I was wondering if you could tell me when POFQ was remodeled, and if you had any Christmas pics of POFQ to get me in the Holiday mood?? lol
Thanks.

I believe it was remodeled in 2003...I don't normally go during Xmas so sorry, can't help you with the pictures. Funny, I never thought about the TV being on the dresser, I guess it's because we have it that way at home!!! :lmao:

Yes, it was re-furbished in 2003 as we were supposed to stay there and were switched to POR!!! We were at FQ in August last year, and it was great! Everything seemed to have a newness about it.
Sorry I don't have any pictures to show you, but there are lots of pictures on the site the previous poster sited and there is a thread devoted totally to POFQ! Do a search and have fun!!!!

I actually liked the fact that the TV was on the dresser, it gives you more space for the coffee pot and some toiletries. it works out well because the sinks do not have a vanity top, there is just a small shelf above the sinks, so the dresser top comes in handy.

plus i can turn that tv all the way around so i can watch from the table in the corner while working on the laptop or eating beignets.

We have stayed at POFQ before, and it was truely great. It is small so getting around with small kids is much easier and believe me after a long day at the parks it is definately appreciated.

I personally love both resorts at Port Orleans, and it's truely a hard decission to make each time we go to Disney. I like the Alligator Bayou part of Riverside better than FQ, but you can end up very very far from the food court and bus stop if you get stuck in the back of the resort.

Either way they are both great and I'm sure you're going to love your stay regardless!

Forgive me my ignorance, but what is wierd about that? I have stayed deluxe, deluxe concierge, & outside of Disney, just about every other standard of hotel/motel (inc. Motel 6, Ramada, Radisson, Days Inn, etc.) and had good/bad experiences/amenities.

I guess I just don't know what you're referring to :confused3

A few from our December 2006 trip.

This was our first time at a moderate. Out previous three trips had been at WL and BWI, so we were a little worried it would be a letdown after deluxes.

But we absolutely loved it, loved the layout, the bus service, the food court, the pool. Will definitely stay here again.

The TV was on the dresser at BC when we stayed there in April. I never really thought about it. I liked having it that way, because it gives you a wider angle of viewing than having it sitting back in an armoire, especially when sitting on the daybed. I didn't consider it to be an outdated presentation, just a practical one.

I like POFQ. It's probably my favorite mod, although CSR runs a close second. I like the boat to DTD and the themeing, and the compact size of the resort.

This is the only thread Ive seen about POFQ- so Im going to ask here. Do they (POFQ) have a slushie machine @ the food court? That was a huge hit this last spring @ POP Cent. with my boys (including my DH) They loved filling up their mugs a few times a day.
I booked a prefered room should I get just a regular room?:confused3

Thanks Nettii:goodvibes
