My little family of 3 are planning a Christmas trip to WDW December 2023.
And although it’s still a year away, I figured now is better than ever to start planning and booking.
What are the best rooms here? Specifically building numbers and room numbers for great views and closer to amenities?

POFQ is the smallest of the resorts and everything is in close proximity to the pool and food court. Buildings 1 & 7 are the furthest and it should still only take you a few minutes to get to the lobby. Bus stop. Boat dock. Pool. Laundry room and food court. It's our favorite resort and we have stayed here several times. No need to pay extra for anything preferred.

We have stayed in all the POFQ buildings except 4 and as the PP mentioned everything is close. All buildings have Garden View but only 1,3,4 & 7 have Standard View. We usually book River View just because we like to see the river when we go in & out. They are in 1,2, 5,6 & 7. If afternoon naps are part of the plan you may want to avoid Pool View.

Pool proximity: 2 & 5
Bus/gift shop/food court proximity: 3 & 4

But if you look at the map, some rooms in each of those buildings are closer to the amenity than the 'nearby' buildings. So if you want to be 'really close' to that amenity, like river view or pool view, book that category. Shorter walk to POR, book building 7.

Really, this resort is so small that everything is convenient. I usually request 2, 3, 4 or 5 and all of the rooms have been good locations.

I don't think you can go wrong at POFQ. As others have said, the resort is small and rooms are close in proximity to the pool/lobby.

If you choose a room near the pool be aware that in the afternoon there is a children's activity program that involves very loud, very annoying music. We now go to POR and stay near the quiet pools because of that but we are older, not young parents of small kids so you should take that into consideration too.

Building 4 Garden view.
We always drove, so it was important that we got close to the room from the parking lot. Always requested and got the ground floor. Aside from easy load and unload, building 4 was right next to the food court. It is also on the back side of the bus stops. No going through the lobby, the stops are right there.
Having had several views over the years, including facing the canal, it isn't as though you have your own balcony to enjoy. We didnt feel the upcharge prices you pay for a view was worth it.
We didn't hang around outside in front of the room. You can open your drapes but then you have people constantly looking in your window as they pass by on the common walkway.
But as always, it's a personal choice so enjoy!

We prefer Bulding #2. We don't want to be by the pool area, though. It is very close to everything and it has a lovely fountain and place to sit on benches close by. Most of the areas have this type of fountain area to enjoy. Like others have said, all the buildings are close to the main area; However, bldg 7 is a bit farther away but probably only 5 minutes or so.
You really can't beat POFQ for convenience to everything. We love it there. Have a great trip:)

What is interesting is that French Quarter has numerous benches to sit on throughout the resort but Riverside doesn't. We were at Riverside in April and I make small watercolor drawings and wanted to sit outside and do some but there were no benches in this area at all. Strange.

I just stayed at POFQ last week. I’m one that does not care about a view. We don’t hang out in our room. I think I had a garden view booked because of a special, but we had a corner room, 7223, so we had garden and parking lot. It’s so small, it’s close to everything. Maybe a 2 minute walk to the bus top cutting through the parking lot. An extra minute or two if you meandered the sidewalks through the resort.

Like PP mentioned POFQ rooms are all pretty much close to everything, so I would just look at the resort map and pick an area that you may like. We actually care about a view from our room and have no problem opening the curtains during the daylight hours when we are in the room, I like looking out the window (especially a river view) while the rest of my family is eating or getting ready. I hate having the curtains closed during the day, because when their open the light just brightens up the room so much, instead of always being so dark. I came across this more dimensional map of POFQ that may help.

My husband and I stayed there on our honeymoon…16 years ago!

But we had a room facing the river in building 6 on the 1st floor and we loved it. It was super quiet back there. As others have said, the resort is small. It’s a quick walk to anywhere from any of the buildings!
