POFQ vs POR

I currently have a reservation for the POR from August 16-21. I'll be traveling with my husband and kids (1 and 4). I chose the POR because I love the "old south" theme. I am thinking about switching to the POFQ for the following reasons

1) smaller resort, easier to manage with two little kids 2)dragon slide at the pool (my son will be in heaven) 3) first stop on and off the bus.

Since our kids are so little we plan to return to the hotel every afternoon for some down time so we'll be using the buses for 4 trips a day.

I welcome reading your opinions :)

We stayed at POFQ 3 weeks ago and we were in bldg. 1, which is about as far away from everything as you can get. Our DD turned 4 while we were there, and it was easy to get to the food court, bus stop, pool, etc. She loved the dragon slide. It took her a little while to work up the courage to go down, but after she did, she loved it!

We walked over to POR a couple of times to eat at Boatwrights. It's not a bad walk at all and DH and DD4 went to the fishing hole one time, but didn't catch anything. You can also take the boat to POR, but the walk was so pretty going along the river. If you stay in bldg. 7, you're really close to POR. You can use their pool, take walks around there and have the best of both resorts I think. POFQ was nice and relaxing to come back to. :)

We love Riverside the best out of both resorts, but when I read your post, I knoew you would probably list the pool as one of your reasons to change. I do agree that the FQ pool is great for younger kids, and it is smaller to navigate. For some reason, everyone in my family(DH and DD's 16, 12, and almost 3) like POR better. We don't mind the walk from any room to the food courts, because its just such a peaceful and lovely walk....the grounds at Riverside are beautiful! I do understand your reason for wanting to change though. As far as the busses go, FQ is the first to pick up, but should be the LAST to drop off. I'm saying this because in all our times of taking the busses from POR(or TOO POR), I don't remember ever stopping at FQ on the way back from a park(I'm almost sure the first stop is the one at the main building at POR)...so their drop off would be the last one. I suppose, though, that being picked up first would be the most important to most people. Most of the time we have never had to wait on a second bus from anywhere in POR, but you never know. It does seem like the bus stop by the main building is the usually the most crowded because people eat and then go to the parks from there. If you think you would like the smaller resort, and the kids would like the pool better, then by all means, switch to FQ....just don't forget to head over to Riverside to check it out one day...it really is a nice walk along the Sassagoula!

I may be mistaken, but I'd have sworn that we were dropped off first at POFQ too when we were on a bus going to both resorts. Often at park closing times, there were separate buses for POFQ and POR.

I do agree about the separate busses at park closing...I had forgotten about that...but I don't remember ever stopping at FQ first when taking a bus back earlier in the day. Maybe its because we weren't paying attention(I've asked everyone in my family this question this morning :) )....I just have no recollection of the FQ bus stop except for the time we TOOK the bus from there after going for some beignets...oh well...wrong or not, the OP has some good points for switching resorts :sunny:

We've stayed at both. With little ones, we like the size of POFQ better because it is more compact. (IE: less walking!!) No matter what building you are in at POFQ, the walk isn't too bad. If you get stuck at one of the outer buildings at POR, you will have to take a hike to the food court, main pool and playground. My kids like the main pools because they have the slides, over the quiet pools (only at POR). POFQ has a smaller playground, but is centrally located. To me when our kids were those ages, location closest to the food court, bus stops were the most important issues for us. Good luck with your decision!!

POFQ has been our favorite mod resort and for the reasons you stated, I think switching is a wise choice. Our kids LOVED  the pool and slide here over all other resorts. We liked that it was more compact and we loved the grounds and decor. The resort is relaxing and is every bit as pretty and peaceful as POR. I would give POFQ a chance for certain. :thumbsup2

We had orginally booked CBR but after seeing the benefits of the smaller resort we switched to POFQ. The #1 reason is 2&1/2 ds. Also have stayed at CSR which was lovely.
