POFQ vs OKW...need opinions

I have POFQ already booked for 11/29/2020-12/7/2020...garden view room for $2103 (8 nights). It looks like I could book OKW deluxe studio for $1462. Is there any hidden fees that I'm missing? I love the size of POFQ and I love that you can walk to Riverside but OKW looks amazing, although large. I've never stayed at OKW, it will only be me and my adult son. Which would you choose? If booking points, is there still a way to put in a room request or is it you just end up wherever ? Thanks for any advice or opinions.

Both are great resorts although you are correct that OKW is a very large property. The OKW studio is 390 square feet, the POFQ is 314 square feet. The studio has a small area to prepare basic meals - sink, under-counter fridge, microwave, and a small counter and cabinet space. The bathroom is a nice size. There are 2 queen beds and more than adequate storage space and a small balcony. You can use the laundry room down by the pool.

POFQ is the average WDW room, but the resort has a very high charm quotient, IMHO! There is no sit-down restaurant, but the food court is very nice. The resort is amazingly compact and walkable.

The difference between the resorts is size, both resort size and room size (and amenities). OKW has a large main pool and smaller pools in each “neighborhood”. There’s a great restaurant, Olivia’s, and counter-service spot. The studio is a good size for two people.

I prefer OKW because I’m a DVC member and it’s one of my home resorts. But POFQ is easily my favorite moderate resort and I often recommend it.

I love the theme at both resorts. OKW is such a large resort vs. POFQ being more intimate. I've stayed in POFQ several times and loved it and visited OKW a few times - it's on my list to try at some point.

My only advise is make sure you understand the differences between cash reservations ( they typical stay ) and renting points. There are differences, so it's buyer beware. The one that stops us from doing it is that it's non-refundable. Some will offer trip insurance and some don't. So just make sure you check into all aspects ( including what the insurance covers ) before you commit.

I always think about OKW when planning a vacation. Renting points is very attractive but I balk at not being able to cancel a reservation.

There are multiple bus stops at OKW, and the theme park bus always stops at the Hospitality House last. So you can stay anywhere in the resort and still hop a bus to the HH. Then to get back to your area, you can walk across the bridge at the HH over to the Peninsular Road bus stop and take a bus back to your area. Or you can walk, it's only about ten minutes. The laundry room that beccasmom mentioned is free to use. You just provide the laundry detergent. There is a laundry room at each of the pools.

If you rent a DVC reservation, for the first week of December, you'll want to make that reservation as soon as 11 months hit. That is a very popular time for DVC members and studios usually book up first. You won't get daily housekeeping, just limited services, unless you pay for them. DVC is just a timeshare and members have to pay for everything. Anything not covered in their annual fees requires an additional fee.
