POFQ vs CBR

I have stayed at both and loved them both but for different reasons. I loved the tropical atmosphere at CBR but loved the small grounds at POFQ. I like the gift shop/store at CBR better and the quiet pools. Food courts were about the same. Loved the boat to DTD at POFQ. Had some service (mousekeeping, grounds well maintained, etc) at both.

I personally would switch to CBR just so you can try another resort. I like to try all that I can before repeating just to see if the next one is better than the last one I stayed at.

This is why you should experience other resorts. hehe

POFQ is my least favorite resort due do the condition of the rooms. The lack of table service and poor and cheaply themed. Here's my faves in order:
1. POR (love the theming, beautiful grounds, love boat to DTD)
2. CBR (love the theming, bigger rooms, beautiful grounds)
3. CSR (newest, more amenties, theming is great but not my taste)
4. POFQ

Everyone has their reasons/tastes. You need to experience them all and decide your faves! Enjoy!

Ironically the table service restaurant at Port Orleans riverside might be closer to your room at POFQ than to certain buildings at CBR. I've stayed at all three and some POFQ buildings are closer to Boatrights than some of the Riverside buildings. Just a bus stop or a short walk away.

I think room condition might be a function of the draw and when you happen to visit relative to a rehab schedule.

Sorry you had such a bad experiance.

I've read nightmares about even the Deluxes.

So That can happen at any Resort and does not mean that the Whole Resort is like this.

I'm sure that if a room at any of the WDW Resort are not exceptable
that if you nicely request it, they would be happy to move you to a different
room.

The little things added up, and one of the main problems we found was the attitude of the front desk CM's and even the concierge desk.
It took the front desk 3 days to fix or replace our TV....

I think I would rather stay in a cardboard box down by the river (sassagoula river that is) rather than stay at FQ again. Our room must have been the most disgusting room they could manage to find.

The grounds at the resort are nice, but with everything else we experienced, I would never go back there. The CM's and concierge are rude, the rooms (at least the one we got) were just unreal- and not in a good way.

I could go on and on (and I'm sure I have in many other threads) tearing on this resort.

Just wondering, what building did you stay at? I know they have renovated a lot of the rooms and we are trying to avoid what is obviously a room in need of repair or major update.

Thanks.

We were in building 5, on the third floor corner room. It wasn't even so much that the room was in need of repair, but there was mold in the shower and and the CM's and concierge were continually rude.

It just was a lousy experience.

CBR is the first moderate and the rooms actually are slightly larger.

Quote from website:All rooms open onto an exterior corridor, and are roughly the same layout and size (340 sq. ft., slightly larger than rooms at the other moderate resorts).

I read that too, but when I spoke with the Disney rep booking my trip she told me the POFQ ones were slightly larger....go figure! :confused3

We stayed at CBR last year in adjoining rooms and both mine and my moms bathrooms overflowed with sewage - into the tubs and around the toilets. But it is Disney - they were so fast to come and fix it (we went to Sea World for our last day). We came back and the rooms were completely cleaned. We got free dinner that night and both rooms were free for our last night.

That being said, it really can happen anywhere....it is how they handle it that counts. We are trying POFQ this time as the walk for my Mom was just too much and OPR was so crowded in the morning I found it stressful.

When we were at FQ in April, it took the front desk 3 days to fix or repair our TV. After numerous complaints about it. I also complained to them about the mold in the shower, and nothing was done about that. I was really fed up with the CM's by check-out time. We won't ever go back, that's for sure, too many things were a problem at this resort. It was not very clean, run down and the front desk and concierge were continually rude. I could find far better resorts to spend money on.

We had to call the front desk several times for the same requests also. Our room was rundown, door literally hanging by one hinge and the bathroom was dirty and moldy. I agree, there are far too many other beautiful resorts to stay at!

I think for the most part its each persons preferences and expectations. If your a value fan, you'll be fine with POFQ. My family is not a value resort fan. To each his own as they say! Everyone has to make the decision on their own preferences. All we can do here is to state what we think and our experiences and hopefully it'll help one another make decisions that are best for them!

Whatever resort is decided, commit to it and enjoy your magical vacation!

We are staying at POFQ for the first time in March 2008. I know a few people who have stayed here and they all loved it so we are going based on their recommendations.

We stayed at CBR a few years ago and although the resort is beautiful we have no intentions of going back. It was much too big for our liking (it took absolutely forever to get to the parks in the morning and forever to get home at night, depending on your bus stop location. We were in Barbados which is like the 4th or 5th stop of 7). The rooms were a good size and everything was always clean. The cafeteria was a MAD HOUSE though because the gift shop is part of it. It was mobbed, regardless of what time of day we were there.

We like the mods but prefer something not as large. CSR was perfect and we are hoping that POFQ lives up to its reputation!

When we were there in 2004, POFQ was closed because there were totally remodeling the whole resort. We stayed at POR and CBR and liked them both. DH didn't like POR because on the time of year we went (FEB) and thought the mansions looked haunted.:goodvibes . We are going in May and will be staying at POFQ and hopefully we'll be happy!

Guess they missed our room during the renovation, or else FQ ran out of money, cause the room was certainly not renovated in the past few years- that was very obvious.
