We stayed at POFQ in September and absolutley loved the resort. Booked in 2008 under Bounceback for next September but wondering if we should try someplace new and are undecided between these resorts.

Any/all opinions from those that have stayed at both resorts would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks....

We were at POR for FD 9-15 thur 9-23 and also
received the BB and decided that we liked PO resorts so
much that we booked POFQ for next time.

We have stayed at CSR and while it was very nice we
truely loved the experiance of POR.
If you are undecided you may just want to stay at POR
next time, I'm sure it would be a different experiance even
though it is next door to POFQ.
Can't beat the Boat ride to DTD!

We've never stayed at CBR though and was curious about
how this resort would compare to the PO resorts.
I will be following this thread.

CBR is nice but it's really spread out. We got a perfered location and it was still a hike after a full day at the parks. We went to POFQ to check it out and we thought it was much nicer overall. CBR has a sit down resturant but that isn't a priority for us. Just the feel and coziness of POFQ is what I like.

This is why you should experience other resorts. hehe

POFQ is my least favorite resort due do the condition of the rooms. The lack of table service and poor and cheaply themed. Here's my faves in order:
1. POR (love the theming, beautiful grounds, love boat to DTD)
2. CBR (love the theming, bigger rooms, beautiful grounds)
3. CSR (newest, more amenties, theming is great but not my taste)
4. POFQ

Everyone has their reasons/tastes. You need to experience them all and decide your faves! Enjoy!

Not POFQ, but we've stayed at both POR and CBR, and greatly liked CBR over POR- so much so that we've stayed there twice. I can see how some folks wouldn't like it because some of the villas are really far from Old Port Royale, but we stayed in both Trinidad North (right next to OPR), and Aruba, and with that stay we just had to walk across the bridge and Old Man Island; not much of a hike, IMO. By contrast, I thought I had to walk way too much at POR.

I just think the theming, music, colors are so much more fun at CBR than the POs. And with beaches at every villa, it's so much more relaxing, too.

well I definitely have an opinion since I"ve only stayed on-site 2 times. Once at CBR and once at POFQ so my mine is pretty focused on only those two.. haha

I will admit my first time on site was CBR and I was disappointed. I didn't think the theming was great.. it was so big and spread out it was just like most other beach hotels in florida, I thought. I mean, the theming is tropical. Florida is tropical... you couldn't swim in the water. I didn't really get to see the entire resort it was so spread out. What I did see looked the same all over. The main pool was small and kids were mostly playing in the jacuzzi since it was connected.. "part" of the main pool.

My ex wanted to try POFQ.. wouldn't have been my first choice but it's one thing he ever got right. I LOVED it. The theming really submersed me in the place and time they were portraying. It was small and not LONG walks to get anywhere. Buses MUCH faster here. LOVED the quietness of it. Main pool was great and hot tub was seperate... not full of kids! The short walk around the resort always had something new to find.. and the night entertainment was AWSOME!

I plan to go back to POFQ in 08. If I were to try another mod resort it would be POR. I've heard nice things about CSR as well, though. I would NOT go back to CBR.

we have stayed at both....about 10 years ago. If a moderate is in your price range then you have to ask 1 question to decide between the 2.

how much time will you spend at your resort?

If the answer is , not much we just need a bed to go to the parks. then CBR is for you. It's so spread out and such a long walk to the main area.

Were POFQ is a compact little town if you will + boat access to DTD. It just gives you more options outside the parks.

Room for room, they are the exact same. Only the surroundings / theme is different.

I have stayed at both and I prefer CBR. Even though it was a hike, the tranquil walk around the lake is beautiful.

POFQ is very nice, and if you want a much smaller resort, it is a no brainer, this will be the one for you.

CBR is the first moderate and the rooms actually are slightly larger.

Quote from website:All rooms open onto an exterior corridor, and are roughly the same layout and size (340 sq. ft., slightly larger than rooms at the other moderate resorts).

We have stayed in all of the mods except CSR, so I can't speak for that one. But, POFQ is our favorite, followed by CBR, then POR.

Actually we like POFQ way more than the other two!!! I would stay there again without a doubt.

We also like to try out different resorts. It is fun to try out new places. Of all the WDW resorts that we have stayed at, we have always had a nice time. Short of bus problems at POR in 2006. But, as for all of the resorts themselves we didn't have a problem.

We are thinking of staying at POFQ in December. :woohoo: If we did, would an upgrade to the AKL or WL be worth it? :confused3 We are also trying MVMCP, so give me some details on that. Also POFQ vs. CBR, which one? LOL!:yay:

How long :hourglass is the boat ride to DTD??

Thanks,

The boat ride is only about 15 min. and is enjoyable.
You will also get to see the Disney Tree Houses on you
way to DTD.

On your ride your Captain will give a little tour guide speech and
talks about the Disney Institute Tree Houses which can be seen
from the river.
The Tree House are now used by the international students CMs.
The THs used to be a WDW Rental houses (not sure if they were there own resort) in the 80s but because the TH don't meet modern
regulations and laws they are no longer available for WDW guest.
They are very cool looking and seem like they would be fun to stay in.

Coming into DTD on the Boat will give you a different view of DTD.
We loved the ride and took it several times on our stay last month.

I think I would rather stay in a cardboard box down by the river (sassagoula river that is) rather than stay at FQ again. Our room must have been the most disgusting room they could manage to find.

The grounds at the resort are nice, but with everything else we experienced, I would never go back there. The CM's and concierge are rude, the rooms (at least the one we got) were just unreal- and not in a good way.

I could go on and on (and I'm sure I have in many other threads) tearing on this resort.

Sorry you had such a bad experiance.

I've read nightmares about even the Deluxes.

So That can happen at any Resort and does not mean that the Whole Resort is like this.

I'm sure that if a room at any of the WDW Resort are not exceptable
that if you nicely request it, they would be happy to move you to a different
room.

I agree! We were there last month and was unhappy also. We were unhappy with more than the room, check in was very pleasant as was the bellman, however other than that, we were unhappy with the entire resort as a whole. I love POR, my fave, CBR my second fave. having stayed at all the moderates. I've stayed at 3 deluxes so far, WL, Poly, Contemp Resort and love those also.

It's each to their own and what someone's tastes and expectations are but I will never stay at POFQ or the POP, for different reasons than POFQ, again.

I stayed at POFQ for a night 2 weeks ago and the room I had looked like it was recently renovated (building 3). I was thinking it was nicer than when I stayed there about 5 years ago. Lots of drawer space, added a refrigerator. I've stayed at both and like both. POFQ is smaller, only one bus stop. CBR is very spread out.

POFQ is ranked #18 out of 286 Hotels in Orlando by Trip Adviser.:thumbsup2

POFQ is much more compact, so if you hate walking to get to things I'd say it gets the nod. CBR was fine on the two short visits we made there, but it was more spread out and some buildings are a pretty good haul from the main building and food court. I live part of the year in FL at or near the beach so the tropical theming pretty much just looks like the same old thing to me. Lakes, sand, and palm trees.

The moderates are similar enough that I can stay at any of them. They're a good value. If you spend much time at Downtown Disney then the boat there at POFQ is a plus.
