POFQ v Riverside

Last October, My mom and I stayed the night at FQ before switching to RS for the rest of the stay. I actually preferred RS to FQ. The food court was definitely better (and also, if it's INSANELY crowded in the morning, like it was when I was there, they actually let you eat in the lounge where the piano player plays at night and the sit down restaurant and has more options. I personally adored the princess rooms (I'm a Princess fan princess: ) but I've seen on YouTube videos room tours of normal Mansion rooms and Bayou rooms. Both are very nice with touches of The Princess and the Frog. Definitely stay there, if you're a fan of the film. Also, I thought the beds were slightly more comfortable at RS. Don't ask me why, I just found it that way. My mom and I also stayed in a normal mansion (pre-princess rooms) and in the Bayou at different times (the mansion was when I was little and my grandparents came with us and the Bayou was when I was in about 5th grade). We really liked both sections. I'd even go as far as saying it's one of our favorite resorts (and one of the few we actually can agree on liking).

Funny thing, our previous trip we booked through a TA at CSR and we were able to SELECT Cabanas ... or any section ... which is weird since through disney you cant. MAYBE our TA over sood the request nature of the selection .... but I dont think so, we booked king bed water view Cabanas ... I reme, ber having to look at a map to guess what we wanted ... we put in s3veral other requests and the resort had no record of them .. which was a huge issue and why we havent used the TA since ... but we were definitly given our choice of sections through our TA ...you would think disney would offer the same ...even if it was 50 bucks per booking ...

No TA can guarantee you get a certain room location, you just got lucky.:)

I have to disagree with the poster who stated there are room locations farther away from the main buildings at POFQ than rooms at POR. I've stayed at the far reaches of both resorts, and the walk at POR was much longer than the walk at POFQ. Probably because the paths at POR wind around, there are very few straight roads that will take you where you want to go. You can't just look at building locations. You have to look at how the paths wind and turn on each other.

I believe at CSR there are preferred room locations that you can choose as there are at most resorts. OKW has buildings that are mainly for the use of DVC members.
CSR has business level ( I believe that's what they are called)
POR has buildings in AB that are preferred as well.
So you can pay for those options or let fate decide. We have always asked if we are not happy if there is another option and most times have been lucky and got a room much closer to the main area.
