POFQ sold out first week in January???

It is June, and I am on Disney's website trying to get pricing for the first week of January at POFQ, and it's telling me it is unavailable for these dates! Same goes for Wilderness Lodge! Can this be true? How accurate is the website, will I get a different story if I call Disney? AAARRGGHHH!

No, the marathon is not the first week.

If you aren't finding rates online, it's because rates haven't been made available for January. If you want a package, there aren't any yet. You can reserve room-only on the phone, but it won't convert into a package and you won't know what the actual price is yet.

I tried to book thru AAA for the 3rd week in Jan and the entire CR tower had nothing available except for the 14th floor. The AAA agent seemed to believe that they just didn't have the rooms in the system yet. I can't believe they would block the entire CR tower for a convention, and I know the 3rd week can't be sold out.

The marathon and half marathon are from January 10 - 13th in O8. Lots of runners and their families come in early for the pre-marathon events.

This may be an idiotic question, but I'm gonna ask it anyway I try to plan family trips WAY in advance, probably because we often use timeshare exchanges, and you really have to book a long way out to get what you want.

If, for example, I wanted to take my children and grandchildren to Disney in May of 2009, am I really going to have to wait until late 2008 to reserve anything? It's nearly July, and they don't even have 2008 rates yet? What's up with that?

You can always book a room only rate. I know you can book in advance but its something like 400-500 days in advance. So you would have to wait a whiles still. Packages always come out in late june to mid august for the following year.

Contacted Disney, they were in the process of upgrading the website, and there IS availability for the first week in Jan '08. CM also said that 2008 rates should be out by the end of August.
