POFQ Scary Mardi Gras Masks and Decor?

We are trying to decide between POFQ and POP for the first part of our split stay. Second half will be WL.

When we looked at some pictures of the pool entrance for POFQ (from ALLEARSNET.COM) my 6 year old daughter asked if she had to go by the scary "man" to get to the pool.

I had not thought that Mardi Gras Masks and other decorations would be scary for young children, but now I am beginning to wonder.

Has anyone experienced a similar response from their children?

We stayed at FQ when my daughter was 6 also. No, she wasn't scared. You don't need to walk thru the jester to get to the pool if you don't want too. There are many whimsical statues (animals spouting water) around the pool that your daughter will probably get used to the decor. My kids thought it was fun. They loved the dragon slide.

We took a 5 year old and 2 1/2 year old to POFQ in 2001. They are both what I call scaredy cat chickens. Both have gone through stages where clowns terrified them. A lot of things at Disney freak them out. However, they loved POFQ especially the pool area.

My daughter was 6 when we stayed at POFQ (she's 7 now)... but she actually loved the statue. But then she's a big fan of Mardi Gras!

We stayed in Bldg 5 and always entered the pool from the other end. Even though we froze our buns off, it was the end of December, my daughter absolutely LOVED the pool and slide.

When she found out POFQ was going to reopen (in time for our trip in April) she asked if we could stay there instead of AKL... that ought to tell you something! Of course I wasn't going to switch, but she also doesn't know I've upgraded to a Savannah view room!
