POFQ room rehab

First of all I'm not a she- and no I'm not making life's work to bash FQ. But as far as I'm concerned I paid my hard earned money to choose a disney resort- why is my opinion from MY money such an issue for you? I stayed at AKL- and I loved it. No I did not love FQ. If you got the lousy room I did- and the front desk did nothing to rectify the situation- then i bet you would have a different impression of the resort. You don't like what I have to post- then just ignore me. Actually I'm not the only one who didn't like the resort- but you have this problem with me specifically and problably personally. Oh-well. I only get a week's vacation after being in the same place for over 12 years- I'm darn entitled to my own opinion- maybe I'm not like you- and get weeks vacations on end where I can go to disney anytime I want. Disney trips for us are special. I'm not defending my opinion to you any more, nor do I need to.

Please don't flame me, but did you ask the front desk for another room? I guess I get such royal treatment there because of what happened to me in 2005. Disney's website refused to take my AP info for a discount rate, that's back when they instituted the 120 rule for those of you that remember that. I was in contact with the manager and his assistant to PO for assistance in obtaining the rate I was entitled to because their website was messed up. I'd tried to correct the issue many times, but no one could help. The resort finally did.

With all that said, from what others have said here, you need to make your complaints known to managment before you leave. Who knows, you may have gotten free tickets for your trouble. Trying to rectrify this after the fact will result in you being dissatisfied and venting here. Which we listen to, but for some of us that's not been our experience so it's hard for us to empathize. But I can understand you not being happy with your experience and you choose to stay elsewhere. I'm sorry your visit was less than magical.

Yes, I actually did make my complaints known. Unfortunately our trip was planned (sort of) last minute- so everything was booked solid, as this was a busy time (at least that's what they told me). The front desk just was rude every time I approached with something new (kept finding things like the mold, broken TV- all at different times). When the resort takes 3 days just to replace or repair the TV, you gotta know something is wrong. I mean we had problems with everything from mousekeeping throwing out things in our fridge (before our stay was over and despite tipping them) to the loud neighbors in the room next door, to the mold....etc.

My anger was not directed at you or anyone else other than the OP who were attacking me for saying my opinion. I most certainly hope that you or any others who stay here enjoy your stay. After all, it's not a "cheap" resort, so you should be able to expect a nice hotel and enjoyable visit. For me there are just so many other disney on-site resorts that I'd go to before I'd ever go back here. That's all.

I hear you loud and clear NY OUTLAW! We must of been at POFQ the same week. My feellings are the same as yours. We are a member of the these boards to read each others opinion. I thought it was uncalled for, for the above post to say not to listen to you because it was your goal to bash POFQ. We are all paying customers to Disney and entitled to our own opinions. We just all need to be thankful that Disney has so many resorts to choose from. I, like you, will not be returning to POFQ because of my negative experience there. Did I contact the front desk, you bet. And yes it is a disappointment when we spend good money on a resort that we are unhappy with.

I stayed at POFQ in June and that stay made it my favorite mod. It even made me not want to stay at values any longer. Is that to say that everyone has had a wonderful experience? No. I don't think there is any resort at WDW that has a 100% return opinion. Everyone has a valid opinion. My experience is a complete 180 of the experience of NY Outlaw and maciemouse. But I am not putting them down for their opinions. My only comment to them would be, everyone and everything deserves a second chance.

People who are a member of these boards all have one thing in common- We all love Disney! And when something happens negative, alot of us post it because we are disappointed. Just like when something is positive, you share it because you are happy. I loved the POLY last year when I stayed there. Did I write about, yes it was great. But did I read negative things about the POLY before I booked my trip, yes. I know just because that may be someone elses feelings, it may not be mine. I guess my feelings are that I spent good money, in fact $208 a night at POFQ. That is alot of money to get the room I got in the condition I got it in. I have had so many positives stays at Disney that I will stay where I know I'll be happy because I want my money to be well spent. An example there is a negative post on the boards now about not staying at CSR with kids. When I stayed there with my kids, it was great. But I did not flame the person that didn't like it because he/she has their own opinion and experience.

Thanks for your support Macie!

On our last trip my DS's were almost 6 and 4.5. Let me just tell you, they would not get off that slide ;) . The pool is so neat for little ones and really nice for adults as well. Plus, there's a hot tub and a nice playground as well. Please don't second guess yourself, and have a great trip :goodvibes

Thanks for your reply. It sounds like your kids had a great time at the pool. I probably won't be able to get my DGD off of the slide either. I show her pictures of it, and she can't wait, and I can't wait to see her enjoying it. (We're practically neighbors. I live right outside of Philly).

POFQ is a beautiful resort. Too many extra upgrades from value. The boatride to DTD, the walk along the river, the short walk to the dining/shopping area, not to mention the wonderful pool. Have stayed 3 times since 2002 upgrade, it is LOVELY...........

Please feel free to voice your opinion. After all, they are like a certain part of our anatomy we all have. :rotfl: I wasn't trying to be judgemental about your situation either. I just know many people here don't say anything to management and expect it to be fixed after the fact. Not knowing all the issues with your stay, so I decided to ask. Thank you for replying courteously. Some others may not have choose to do so. If in a few years, if you also remember things and choose to post here I'll completely understand. Sure wish others would realize that not everyone has a perfect memory due to a medical conditions and that one sentence can trigger a memory. But that's another topic. ;)

If there are still smoking rooms waiting for refurbishment, I certainly hope they are taking care of them now :)

I like reading about various experiences. So, keep them coming :thumbsup2

We leave Wednesday for POFQ, I just found out the pool is being refurbed and now the rooms. I'm a little ticked off at Disney, they did not tell us this when booking. Now there aren't any rooms to gotten at the rate we have (AAA). We were planning on using the pool too.

There are several quiet pools and the pool at POR that you can use.

I am aware of that, but I truly doubt that we will walk all the way over just to use the pool. Had we been told at the time of booking we would have picked a different hotel. Now to see that the temps are going to be in the 80's while we're there, it's got me even more ticked.

You can use the boat or the bus. I suppose there's always BB or TL.

I originally booked for CB but was told the pool was being refurbished as well. I then changed to POFQ via advice from others (including the forum), just to learn that after I changed my reservation with Cust.Srv. that I learned that this pool is also being refurb’ed. Nothing was mentioned to me during my reservation change. All of my current research that I've conducted since changing resorts, (incl. calls to C.S), states the pool should be re-opened March 15th. Having an 1 year old and 4 year old autistic child won't be a pleasure huffing them over to the other resort just to use the pool. :scared:
Unless I've asked, I could probably assume I was not going to be told of any refurb... I just learned of the Room refurb. through the forums....
I'm scheduled to arrive March 17th. Everyone is confident (including C.S) that the pool should be open by or on the 15th. Hope their right. :worship:

Regarding the room refurb--I was at POFQ from 1-26 to 2-3. By some fluke, we were in the same set of rooms in building 6 that we occupied in Dec. I noticed on the Dec trip that the rooms were in need of a DEEP cleaning. When we arrived on 1-26, the rooms had been deep cleaned. No dust in corners, etc. and the carpet had been cleaned. There were also new coffee-pots and brand new H/C units. Maybe this is what the room rehab was about!

Taking some of the anxiety off the room situation, Thanks! :thumbsup2 Now if you can pull some magic on the pool, that would be perfect!!! (just kidding). :wizard:

I would like ask you or anyone else who has recently visited a question. Do they have any “common” area’s outside of the rooms that people can sit? I’m trying to think up a way I could let my kids go to sleep at night while mom and dad can sit outside of the room. I’m not looking to leaving the kids in the room by themselves but since the rooms don’t have balconies, be able to be within a "very" short distance with a visual site of the room door and just sit and relax outside. From all of the photo’s of POFQ I have reviewed, it appears the only option would be to have a room on the first floor.
Just a thought.

Thanks again for the update.
