Hi! Me and my mom are going to WDW Sep 22-26. It is her 1st trip, and I have booked us at POFQ. I came into a little unexpected money, and can upgrade to WL for $300.00 more. I have never stayed at either resort. I have visited WL when we ate at WCC, and really loved the decor. Is it worth it to upgrade? Or would you stay at POFQ? Thanks!! :sunny:

Even though I liked POFQ a lot, if I suddenly found some unexpected extra money I would definitely go for a deluxe. WL is beautiful. There are two sit down restaurants and a small counter type place called Roaring Forks at WL. You will have two queen size beds instead of two full size. You will have a balcony. The interior hallways of a deluxe are a big plus to us also.

That being said, many here will think you should stay with the mod. Save the money for more souvenirs! Either way, it is a no lose situation!

I really like the idea of having a balcony. My mom smokes, I do not. I think that a balcony would help with the smoke smell while in the room :goodvibes

Isn't that funny!!! We are staying at the WL almost exactly the same dates!!! 22nd through the 29th!!! It is our first time staying at WL, and I've heard nothing but good things about it. We are so excited!!! POFQ is good for families who don't want to spend the money on a deluxe, and I've heard people say that it's nice. I guess if I had the option, I'd opt for the deluxe. It's really something to see, and I think the POFQ is VERY spread out. There is a lot of walking involved to get from your room to the buses and to the ONE restaurant that they have. WL, while not exactly on the monorail, sits inbetween CR and GF, and you can just jump on a boat to either, and use the monorail. Did I mention WL is simply beautiful?!!! Good luck, and if you stay at WL, I hope to see you there!!!

We just got back from a stay at WL. We were originally going to stay at POFQ. We upgraded for the larger beds and interrior corridors. Just a quick note on the smoking. My DH smokes. He won't smoke in the room because of me and DDs. We asked at front desk and were told that there was no smoking on the balconies of non-smoking rooms.

You will not go wrong either way. WE LOVE the Lodge and have stayed there many many times but this year trird POFQ and found that we were just as happy there. Both have quaint things others do not have. I would save the $300 and take her to the Lodge for dinner to see the Lobby and views on their dime.

Seeing that you are going during hurricane season, I would choose the WL, the interior corridors are a big plus then.

You really didn't mention your plans for time in the room. If you aren't going to spend a lot of time at the pool and in the room, POFQ is really nice and really small and easy to get around(POR is the spreadout one) and has a nice pool . I love it. If you want a beautiful pool and lobby and would like a place with lots of cubby holes and little lounges to relax and wander around in, then the WL is your best bet. I love WL too! Both have good transportation so that shouldn't be a big factor.

for all the replies. I have decided to stay with POFQ. My mom has always wanted to go to New Orleans, and now Francis has nixed that for her, for at least a few years. That is why I originally chose POFQ. I think I will use the extra money to shop, or maybe do a specialty cruise if any are still available.
We only have 4 nights, 3 full days and 2 half days to tour, so we probably won't spend lots of time at the resort. I think WL would be a waste. Maybe when we go with the kids next time (not sure when), we will try WL. Thanks to all who gave some input. You were all very helpful!!! :goodvibes
