POFQ or POR

We are planning a Spring Break trip for the week after Easter (clearly crazy, I know :D ).

DGM (my best friend and travel companion - DH NOT invited on this one) can't make it until Wed. night and we've booked Poly CL from Wed. through Sun. But I really want to take DDs down on Monday morning and the prices of 2 more night at the Poly -- ouch!!! I've read good things about both POFQ and POR and would like to try them out. Can anyone give a recommendation on which would be better for 2 young DDs (5 and 2)? We would likely spend alot of time at the pool those 1st 2 days - which is a better resort for little ones?

Thanks in advance for your advice! :flower1:

Have stayed at POR but not POFQ, but have eaten and walked around. For the age your kids are I would vote POFQ. The pool is very geared to their age group and seemed much quieter and more manageable than PO, especially if the kids outnumber you :D The resort overall was quieter, smaller and I think a great option for the family with young children. You can always go over to POR to visit as they are sister resorts.

Thanks! I like the theming at POFQ (love New Orleans and cajun food). Do you know if there is a kiddie pool and/or a playground?

We stayed at POFQ last summer with our 4 yr old DD. We loved it. I kept wanting to get over to POR to check it out but we never did. Anyway they have a kiddie pool and a playground which my DD loved. The main pool is great for kids their age too. The slide isn't too big for them to use. It's a beautiful resort! We were in building 5 facing the courtyard and we loved it. We were steps to the pool, bus stop, and food court. Hope this helps. :D

Thanks for the recs and the awesome pics! You've made my decision for me -- POFQ it is. I'm booking through Expedia right now (for some reason they have rooms although WDW is showing POFQ booked for those 2 nights). My DDs are Ariel freaks and will die that King Triton will be at their hotel (see pics above!)

Thanks, again. DIS members are the greatest! :cool1:

I'll put in another vote for the POFQ. It's a lot smaller than the POR. The pool is a lot of fun--your kids will love the gator statues. It's a lot more bright and colorful than the POR

Either will be a good choice, but the POFQ is more fun, IMO.

I wouldnt book through expedia if I were you. If a discount code comes out you won't be able to use it. Also Disney will have no control over your reservation, like if you need to make requests or change something. Do yourself a favor, don't book through expedia, call up Disney and see what they can do for you.

OK now I'm getting scared - I talked with several AAA and WDW travel counselors and they of the two hotels I was considering (POFQ and POR) they said that POR is best for my 4 and 3 YO kids. WHAT SHOULD I DO? We are going March 7 and haven't paid my deposit yet (due next week) so I will be able to change reservations if you say so

Please help me.

I know about the expedia thing but I didn't have a choice :guilty: . I called WDW yesterday and today (and checked web sites both days too) and there was no availability for those dates for POFQ. They only offered CSR.

I thought I'd keep trying through WDW and switch to that system if I can get in. There is a $25 cancellation penalty with Expedia but I'll pay it if I have to. However, if not, I wanted to make sure I had a room!!!! Last year we held rooms with Expedia for the Poly - finally rooms came up through WDW and I was able to change it and get the AP rate. I've always had good experiences with expedia but completely agree with you that it is always preferred to book directly with Disney. :flower1:

Again, thanks for your concern! :grouphug:

Book another moderate, you said CSR, for your dates through disney. You pay 1 nights deposit, and they dont have such a strict cancellation fee either. Then call every couple of days to see if your dates open up. If they still don't when you check-in, just asked to be moved. Simple as that. Disney will go out of its way to make people happy.

Hi. I have POFQ booked for April 3 through 8 with AP rate. Just did it last week. I also will be coming by myself with two DD's (5 & 8). If we are there at the same time, maybe we can meet up! I hope you have a great trip! I am excited that this slide looks a little more tame for my two! The Poly slide scared them - only went down it one time then wouldn't go near it again (last summer) just FYI.

You will have a good trip at either one! I have stayed at POR 4x and always had a young one with me. We like it there because it is alittle more "busy". We like the activity.

I suggested POFQ because I think the pool area/slide is much more geared for the younger kids both is theme and design. At POR to go up the slide you must go with them or they leave your sight. Lots of greenery and if they make a wrong turn they are down a path the wrong way. I think the POFQ pool area, being more open and visible would be easier, especially with young kids and one parent. It is a great resort for those with young children, those without children, or those who need a smaller resort to navigate.

I do believe that POFQ is newly renovated and POR is in process.
We just stayed in a newly renovated room at ASMo and it was nice to have a room so fresh :daisy:

I think we are going to miss each other - otherwise, I'd love a meet. We are actually staying at POFQ 3/28 and 3/29 and then moving to the Poly from 3/30 until 4/3. I'm truly excited about having DDs "all to myself" for a couple of days. Usually when we travel, DH or DGM are with us. It will be fun to be just "mommy and the girls" for a few days. Have a blast on your trip :flower1: Hope you and your daughters make lots of special memories. :flower:
