dh, ds (6) and dd (2-just about 3) are planning a trip for 10/19/08-10/25/08. I've yet to book because i just seem unable to make a decision on the resort and def. date.

I'm looking for decent weather, moderate to low crowds and a nice place to stay without going broke :)

I was all set on CSR, but then a co-worker of mine said to go with POFQ.

Keeping the following in mind, where would you stay?

Ages of my kids (pools, gamerooms, etc)
Transportation
Food choices
Rooms

Thanks so much!

CSR has a great main pool area and a nice playground that is also located there. It also boast the best slide of any of the mods. Your kids would love it. Check out my CSR website below for pics and info. They also have a pool opening ceremony at 10:00am. The kids chant to the water gods to get the water turned on to the temple, slide and tiki post.

The CM's sometimes play water games with the kids at the main pool. There is also an arcade at the main pool area.

CSR does not share transportation like POFQ/POR and it is some of the best of any WDW resort.

CSR has much better food choices than POFQ including its own sit down restaurant.

I agree with your coworker on pofq. your kids will love the serpent pool and you also have boat transportation to dtd and por. pofq is my favorite mod its small and quit you can walk to from one side or the resort to the other in less than five minutes. csr is a huge resort and you could end up with rather long walks from your room to the food court and the main pool and bear in mind that this is a convention center resort so csr could be packed with peaple witch ever you choose i'm sure you will have fun :thumbsup2

Just back from CSR and let me tell you I would go with CSR just for the bus transportation aone. Many nights leaving the parks I would see HUGE lines for all the resorts EXCEPT CSR. I always had a seat, the pool area is great for kids the water slide is a blast and I found it very nice to nice able to step away from all the Disney craziness to a nicer quiet low keyed Disney themed resort. The food at the Pepper market was fabulous and the conventioneers never were an issue.
Yes it is a HUGE resort but there are many bus stops and the pluses outweigh the minuses in my honest opinion!
Good Luck!!!:goodvibes

Hi
I just got back from CSR and it is a beautiful resort. I'm taking my DGD (5) to POFQ in August and won't be going back to CSR with a small child. It's so spread out, that you really have quite a hike to go to the pool. I just wouldn't want to walk that far everyday. The resort seems more for adults. Also, I didn't see any golf carts taking people around. I asked one of the CM about it and he said they don't do it. But we did get a ride back to our room from El Centro and we were in a close building 9B. Have a great trip!

I've stayed at both and while I loved CSR, with young kids I would definitley stay POFQ.

Pepper Market has amazing food, but it's definitley more expensive and much more on the gourmet side. CSR is spread out, yes it was great having your own bus and a shorter ride back from the parks, but a 10 minute bus ride to get to the stop closes to Rancheros sometimes took away from that. To get the mug refilled, it was a good 10 minute walk to Pepper Market every time.

Sassagoula over at POFQ has the standard food court fair of burgers, pizzas, and chicken fingers. Also POFQ is much more condensed, we were in a river view room in building 1 and it took all of 3 minutes to walk to the main building. As for buses, most nights there's a bus leaving just for POFQ from the parks. And the boat to DTD can't be beat.

I would say, with your kids' ages, go with POFQ:

-Great bus service
-Very compact resort so that it is easier and more convenient to get around the resort, to your room, to the food court, to the busses, etc., which with kids that age is a HUGE plus.
-The serpent slide is a great slide for young kids, very fun looking one, and one that is, imo, really good for very young kids, as it isn't as tall and fast as some. If it were older kids, would agree that the slide at CSR would be better.
-Boat to DTD is fun and relaxing!
-You can also use all of the amenities at POR, which is another beautiful resort.
