POFQ or CSR for room block?

I am starting to think about what resorts to put in our room block. We know we want Pop Century and the Boardwalk but I am stuck on what moderate to choose. We stayed at POFQ last visit and we loved how pretty the resort was and the smaller size. I was all set to put POFQ in the room block until I was reading about the remodel at Coronado Springs. They now have two queen beds in the rooms instead of the two full so in theory our guests wouldn't have to pay for the upgrade to the king room. I have been reading a bunch of reviews over on the resort board but everyone has good and bad things to say. I guess my real issue is with blocking a resort that I have never even visited. :confused3 Should I really worry about this? Most of my guests have never been to WDW or at least not in the last 10-15 years so they are relying on my recommendations. :headache:

We had never visited any of the resorts we put in our room block. :thumbsup2

Some of my non-Disney-familiar guests were less than impressed with Port Orleans French Quarter, others thought it was fine.

What stands out to me is that Coronado Springs is geared toward conventioneers, so it has a few more amenities and feels slightly more upscale than the other Moderates, for the same price.

As a guest, the Queen bed thing would be pretty important to me - Disney seems like one of the last hotel chains these days that can get away with only offering full-sized beds in standard rooms, and people who are not used to staying there might be surprised/disappointed to learn this.

Yeah, the queen bed thing is a big deal to me as well. Thanks for the advice!

I am going to put together a newsletter explaining the differences between the hotels so people know what to expect but I am sure people won't really read it! :lmao:

I would go with Coronado. The new rooms look gorgeous from the photos and very upscale. There is a salon and fitness center on the premises. The pool is really nice. Bus service is very good. We stayed there for a night on our most recent trip and I was really pleasantly surprised. We didn't get a new room (it did have the new Queen beds), but our room was fine and the resort is really very pretty. There is also a nightclub there, which may appeal to older guests. But most importantly I would go for it just for the Queen beds. The new beds were very comfortable.

Thanks for the info but now I am confused. Are all the rooms going to be renovated or just the beds changed? I have seen pictures of the new rooms and they look really nice.

I'd go with POFQ but I don't like the resorts that are so spread out they have an internal bus system. I've stayed at CSR once and I drove everywhere I needed to go, because on my first day it took me almost 2 hours to get to the MK.

If the beds are important and since they have queens then there you go. Everyone has opinions on resorts. It comes down to what's important to offer your guests. If they'd prefer queens then that's what you should offer. but that's my opinion.

All the rooms are going to be renovated - it will be finished by October 09!

I am having the same dilema for our wedding trip - were going to stay at CSR this Oct and visit POFQ so wie will see which one we prefer :goodvibes

Right, everything should be done in October. They had swapped out the beds before the room renovation, so that is how we got a Queen bed but not new decor.
