We will be going to Disney for 10 days in late August 2014 (around August 15-24, flexible if a special comes out). I am looking at getting two rooms. Just wondering what the Pros/Cons of each resort. I am a single mom, but 2 of my kids will be 18 and 17, the other two will room with me ages 14 and 6.

Thanks for any responses. I am looking forward to the 2014 packages being released.

Me and my husband stayed at POFQ and absolutely hated it. We both felt that it was dirty and run down. Our room felt really outdated, dusty, and the sheets were dirty. I thought the pool area was lacking too.

There are pros to the resort though, I liked how small and compact it was and there is a boat to DTD which is nice. We love DTD so that was a plus for us.

I have been fortunate to be able to stay in both of these resorts. Neither was a negative experience at all. The differences boil down to things like size: CS is beautiful, but very large. I had a "preferred" room and was still a good 5-7 min walk from the main building. I was also a far walk from the main pool. :beach: It is also also a convention hotel, so depending on who is attending any particular convention, the experience can be shaped by that. The grounds are beautiful at both resorts. POFQ was small, manageable, great food court and easy access to any park. (About 10-15 min ride to anywhere.) Coronado's buses (because of the size and layout of the resort) can be frustrating during peak times. There are 4 bus stops around the property and if you are at the 4th one, sometimes....buses can be full. If I had any negative at CS, it was the food court, but I know some people love it. The food was fine, but the system was unusual, not bad, just different. I did not have the experience of the PP of POFQ being dirty or unkempt. Actually, it was beautifully maintained while I was there (last March). Both properties are lovely, but different. You'll enjoy either one. Hope your trip is terrific! pixiedust:

I have not stayed at POFQ but we love CSR. It unfortunately had no late August dates for our trip because of a Mustang convention. I think your dates are early enough to miss it though. You should check availability on the website.
We love the pool (big hit with my kids) and despite it getting iffy reviews we really enjoy the Pepper Market. The rooms are lovely and there is no prettier resort when it's lit up at night (IMO). Some of the rooms can be a big hike so I'd make a request to be closer to the main building or book a preferred room.

We've stayed at both and love both, but at different times of the year. :) In the winter months we choose POFQ as we don't care for the pool area since we have older kids. The FQ is a small, convenient, quint and pretty resort. The rooms were recently renovated and we found the resort and the rooms very clean and attractive!

CSR is our very favorite of all the moderates, especially during all the months we can swim! The pool area is great, the resort is beautiful, bus service is great, Pepper Market and Rix Café are convenient - We love it!!! :)

We have stayed at POFQ 6 times now we just love it there never had any problems clean great staff nice pool and love the boat to downtown

We have stayed at CS twice, and absolutely loved it both times!! There is nothing like laying in one of the hammocks on the beach under a palm tree after a long tiring day.Yes, it is a very large resort, but if you do your research and make a location request, you should be fine. In order, our preference would be Cabanas first, Casitas second with Ranchos being dead last (mainly because of the bus situation and super long walk to everything).

Having said that, we are booked at POFQ this November. We really wanted to try another resort and POFQ gets 99% great reviews! I get more excited every time I look at photos and read all the positive reviews ;-)

Here a couple links for great reviews with videos and pictures to help you decide.

I can also tell you that we have also stayed at CBR, and I will NEVER go back there. And we have stayed at Wilderness Lodge, and I would 100% hands down go back there if finances allow in the future :thumbsup2

We absolutely love CSR. My kids are 22, 14 & 8. It is their favorite resort as well as ours. The pool is amazing and the Jacuzzi is big. There is a playground, arcade, volleyball, pool bar and quick service food area all by the pool. We enjoy the pepper market as well. The rooms are very nice with sliding doors (instead of a curtain) between room and bathroom area. We stay in Casitas 3 which is in between the main pool and the food court. The walk is not bad at all. There is also a quiet pool in between Casitas 3 & 4. The cabanas would be good as well as far as being in between both. I would stay away from the Ranchos. We always rent a car so I cannot comment on the buses. They have activities at the pool as well as movie nights. It is a beautiful resort and very pretty at night. We did not have a great experience at POFQ, definitely had mousekeeping issues. CRS in my opinion is a much nicer resort.

You most likely stayed at it right before the refurbishment about two years ago.

The rooms are very nice now.

It is true that the pool is a bit more sedate, but the beauty about POFQ is that you share all the amentities with its sister resort, POR, which has one main pool and five quiet pools.

I've stayed at both resorts and loved both.

As far as CSR goes I feel it is a much prettier resort. We loved the pool and I really enjoyed the food court. We had no problems with the bus system there and we had a very nice room. CSR is very large so we did lots of walking there. Also we had a pretty rowdy convention one night where things were getting a little out of hand at a very late hour

POFQ we stayed at last year. I absolutely loved the small size of the resort. We had a very nice room. Bus system was fine. I enjoyed the boat to downtown disney although there was a looooong wait for it. We found the food court to have lots of options and it was all very good. POFQ was not as "pretty" as CSR. Also the pool was not as nice. My son actually stopped on the slide it was so slow - lol. You could take the walk over to the Riverside pool but honestly we couldn't be bothered with doing that.

Soooooo I guess we really liked both and i would be happy to stay at either but for some reason with POFQ I really like that it was small.
