POFQ or Contemporary?

I'm starting to plan a trip to WDW in February '09. I know it's a long way off but I'm taking 3 kids (12, 7, 5) by myself so I want to make sure I have all my bases covered before I make any final reservations.
In September my DH, DS and I stayed at POFQ and were thrilled. I was thinking of staying there again next time, but I'm thinking a monorail resort would be a better choice. The cost is not a huge issue if the ease and convenience is that much better.

First, does anyone know if the pool at POFQ is open in February. I know for most people it would probably be too cold for swimming, but my DS would live in the water even if it was turning to ice.
For those that have stayed at the Cont, is it that much more convenient than other resorts?

Thanks so much for any advice/suggestions you have.

Yes - Contemporary is covenient. It is on the monorail plus boat and bus access. If convenience isn't a concern, save $$ and stay at POFQ. It's a charming resort. And yes, guests swin in February. The pools are heated. Have fun planning your trip! :thumbsup2

If you want to stay somewhere with ease and convenience, then you should go with the Contemporary. Not only are they on the Monorail line there is also the walkway to the Magic Kingdom. Plus when leaving the Magic Kingdom they are the next stop on the Resort Monorail.

I'd agree with the previous posters. If money is not an issue then I'd head to the Contemporary no question.

My DW and I stayed there in 2000 before we had kids and it was super handy to have the monorail right there. If you're travelling alone with 3 kids... um... yep, the Contemporary is it. I think all your kids will think it's super cool to have the monorail running right through the resort. Plus there is no bus taking (depending to the parks you go to). Also if you can afford a tower room on the MK side then that would make for an awesome place to stay while at Disney.

Have fun planning, I'm envious. :)

I agree with CR Resort Fan 4 Life - and judging from his screen name, he may be a little biased! We loved POR and thought POFQ was lovely, too, but I would love to stay at the Contemporary one day.

CR gets my vote, but if you want a better atmosphere, try the Polynesian or the Grand Floridian. :)

I would pick CR hands down. We stayed at FQ in April and I had a lousy LOUSY experience. You couldn't pay ME to stay at FQ. We did go over to CS for dinner one night....sure seemed like a nice resort to us. However, something tells me I would only be happy with a tower room w/ view of MK, so that takes CR out of the formula. We had it on our possible resorts list when we go back next October, but the price was just way too much. So we had to drop it when we formed our short list.

You pick 2 complete contrasting resorts,
one that is homey, traditional, laid back POFQ and
a Very Modern Resort.
If what you liked about POFQ was the cozyness--
I'm not sure you will be getting that at the CR.
If you have to go with a Monoral resort I would go with
the POLY because of the Grounds (if you like Plants, flowers, greenary)
That's just my 2 cents.

If money was not an issue I'd pick CR no contest. Loved it there! (Enjoyed POFQ too, but CR better!)
