also, does POFQ have "preferred" rooms (for an extra $10) like CBR does? if so, what are they?

Hi There!

I'll take a stab at answering your question.

I'm just back from a GREAT 4 day stay at POFQ. Really liked the resort. It is very compact.

To answer your proximity question, Building 4 is closest to Food Court and Bus. Building 5 is close to pool and food (If you booked a 'water view', these rooms might be noisy if they overlook the pool area- especially at midday with lots in the pool). The other buildings are further away from center but not very far at all.

I was in Building 3 and thought that was pretty close to all. If you are looking at the main building, Building 4 is on the left side and Building 3 is on the right. Just happens that the Food Court is inside the main building on the left side- thus technically Building 4 is closest to the Food.

I don't think there is a 'preferred' room option.

Your kids will love the pool area- fun dragon slide!

My wife and I just returned from POFQ April 2-6. It was our first time staying there and we LOVED it. Living only 90 mins from New Orleans and having visited NO many times, POFQ does a great job of capturing the look and feel of the French Quater-minus the smell and drunks on the street. We stayed in 4220 I think. It was a parking lot view room. We were 5 mins from the bus stop, pool, and food court. If they do prefered rooms I would guess they are the ones overlooking the river running behind the resort. If you will enjoy the view, which is fantastic, it may be worth it. But you will have to walk to the front of the resort for the bus and food court. Either way though its not a far walk.

Hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

view is so not important! LOL! we like to be close to the "action" even allowing the kids to walk to the food court w/out us...

i have checked out the "sticky" thread, and have reviewed the maps... just wanted to get some real person input 'cause sometimes those maps are quite deceiving...

another question... does POFQ have elevators? i know the all-stars and pop do, but CBR does not... if not we may ask for 1st floor (i suffer from rheumatoid arthritis and i am typically able to walk a lot, stairs absolutely kill me)

Building Number 4 did have an elevator, so I am sure they all do.

Yes, all the buildings have elevators.

Regarding 'views'- getting a view of the pool or the river would be a 'water view' room rather than a 'standard view'. I thought my 'standard view' room was fine and wouldn't want to spend the extra money. My room in Building 3 was overlooking one of the 'inner streets' but I could see how some of the rooms might overlook a parking lot.

If I remember correctly, I think Buildings 2, 4 & 6 have smoking sections. But if you request 'non-smoking' on your room request, that should take care of it. I think often, they have certain floors of the buildings be smoking.

We stayed at POFQ last April in building 6, NS, river view. Great view of the river and very quiet.

You can't go wrong with any building at POFQ. Everything is so close by, and the pool and food court are both great!
