POFQ-- just back 6/6-6/12

Just back from POFQ (June 6-12th). Here are a few opinions from this trip:

Resort is lovely. Quaint and small but big enough that you don’t feel crowded. Bunnies were all over the courtyard. We usually stay at AKL, so we were a little leery of a moderate.

The room( bldg 1 rm 1104) was big enough for us Myself and DD12 and DS6. Next time we would get 2 connecting rooms. One king and 1 double-- Double beds wouldn’t cut it for DH. Standard room of the parking lot, but situated in front of some shrubs and trees so it was actually very nice.

There was a towel basket with a chick in it—I was beyond THRILLED. Never got one of those before!!

Floatworks and Jackson Square were very nice. DS was asked to join a cookie decorating session one nite and he got mardi gra beads and had a ball.

Decorated my window and bathroom mirrors with “happy birthday” signs—no problems there.

Pool and serpent slide were a big hit! It was very hot last week!

We took the boat to Riverside and DTD—always relaxing and a nice change from the bus.

Bus: FW only has the 1 stop. Riverside has 4. We were always picked up and dropped off first. At nite they separated the resorts.

We did the horse and buggy ride—beautiful! Along the river in both resorts, it was raining so I felt bad for the driver, but it was a nice touch to the trip.

We were on the dining plan—once I figure out how much we “saved” I will post it. I will say it is a LOT of food. We ended up with 2 CS’s leftover. I got a stomach thing so didn’t eat for 2 days. I will say that (at least at FQ), they are very flexible with how you use your credits. For example, we never wanted dessert but got cartons of milk instead for the fridge for later in the evening for the kids.

Restaurants we ate:
Boatrights at Riverside – Breakfast and Dinner. YUM! Banana French toast is delish. The pot roast is also yummy

Chef Mickey- Fun—the usual buffet items nothing really sticks in my mind that was overly delish.

1900 Park fare- Dinner with Cinderella. This was Great!! She is my favorite and we ate there for my 40th bday. Again, regular buffet stuff. However, I did pre-order the mini castle cake- vanilla/vanilla and the chocolate slipper mouse thing for my bday. I didn’t tell the kids, they thought that it was cool that they new it was my birthday. It was pricing—49 for both plates—but WORTH every dime.

Liberty Tree Tavern – lunch. I was not in the mood for eating so I only had a crab cake, but it was good. The kids enjoyed theirs.

Crystal Palace- Breakfast buffet. I really like it here, I love the French toast thingy’s. It was nice with the characters.

I had my birthday buttons from all the parks on my purse. I never mentioned it was my birthday, but every restaurant gave a free cupcake with a candle and singing. Anyone who saw the button sent wishes.

Hi! I am glad to hear good news about POFQ. I will be staying there for the first time in August. Did you find the resort noisy at all? Any other tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much

HI! No we were not in the mansions, they are in Riverside.

The building we were in was not noisy at all, but we were situated in the farthest buiding facing the parking lot.

As far as tips:
1- the pool fills up quickly, Riverside is able to use this pool and does since theirs doesnt have a slide. It was always packed and never any chairs or life vests. I would suggest getting there early and finding you spot.

2- allow for more travel time to places. I was always underestimating how long places would take to get to

3-take advantage of the evening while it is cool. While tons of people were watching wishes/spectromagic we literally walked on to splash mountain-- during the day it was an 80 minute wait

4-you can see the water parade from the monorail-- we rode the continous loop several times. It is a relaxing, cool seat and you get to meet lots of nice folks too!

5- we never used Fast pass, I could be tied down to a time, however we did take advatage fo teh single riders lane. If your party doesnt mind riding seperately, it saved us time

I just figured out that the DDP cost 521.82 and we spent 620.80 on our food. So it saved us 100 bucks. I also didnt use 2 counter service. Would we have eaten as much as we did without the plan?-- probably not. But it vacation so what the heck!!

Glad you enjoyed your trip. POFQ is a great place and we really love it, we will be returning this sept. Cannot wait.

glad to hear you liked POFQ - we just got back there ourselves, I'm in the middle of trying to write our TR. We LOVED it - we were there for DBF's bday and didn't get any balloons or anything like you did, but we weren't expecting anything since he is older, and they left us a lot of towel animals like the chick which was a cool surprise. i am jealous that you took the carriage ride - must have been so neat!! We loved Boatwrights too but only got to eat there once, for dinner. I loved POFQ and would stay there again in a heartbeat!

Actually, Riverside's themed pool on "Ol' Man Island" does have a slide. It's the other "quiet" pools spread around the resort that don't.

I agree with everything you say about the POFQ. That is my favorite resort!

The dining plan is a great bargin. By the end of my week, I was only eating about half of what I normally do, but it was a definite money saver.
