Hey all! We have reservations December 1 - 8 at POFQ. Last thing I read, their opening date was Tbd.
Anyone have an educated guess or a crystal ball, thinking they will be open by then?
Getting excited again, as I booked our park passes this morning!!
Thanks for any info you have!!

I think they're playing this by ear; any guesses from anyone would be uneducated and more gut feel.

If I were you, I would plan as if they aren't going to open POFQ by your trip, because you'll always be able to move back if it opens, but if you wait too long to call Disney and move yourself, you may find that there's no availability left to move to.

I'm so confused. I thought if POFQ wasn't open by then, disney would move/upgrade us. No?

Poor communication from Disney.. twitter the Disboards and forums are not where guests should be learning their reservations will be canceled. Every single reservation held should lead to an email by Disney confirming, and or explaining Exactly What guests can expect. Best of luck OP!!

See, my Dreams Unlimited agent told us to wait as long as possible to see what happens with POFQ reopening because they could always move us if it doesn't. That was after I asked if I should be concerned there won't be availability to move to if we wait. :rotfl: :rotfl:

I'd much rather get moved into something now and have the ability to move back (at the same price) if it does reopen. I just wish they'd come out with some sort of info - even if it's a "we're hoping to reopen POR/POFQ this year, but that will depend."

@ShellyMouse we're 12/1-12/5 at POFQ!

It’s been strongly rumored that The Port Orleans & All Stars could possibly remain closed until early 2021

I wouldn't count on it, but at least you have time. We were set for POFQ in mid-July, so we had to move.

Currently Port Orleans is one of the resorts that cannot be booked in 2021 yet. Obviously, no one really knows the future, but it doesn't seem promising. Here's the current list of non-bookable resorts for 2021:
  • Disney’s All Star Movies Resort
  • Disney’s All Star Music Resort
  • Disney’s All Star Sports Resort
  • Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge – Jambo House
  • Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter
  • Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside
  • Disney’s Wilderness Lodge

I had a room only reservation at FQ for late January 2021. I called yesterday to turn it into a package so I could make park reservations and I wasn't able to keep it at FQ. The CM told me it would not be opening in 2021, so I had the option of Carribean Beach or Coronado Springs. I'm sure things could change before my stay but just to let anyone know that you can't make any modifications to your reservation and keep it at FQ.

My TA told me yesterday she doesn’t want to change my POFQ reservation for December right now as Disney is discouraging late-2020 modifications because there’s a chance the resort could be open. I know Disney put on their site that they’ll be reevaluating their plans for the remaining resorts as things go. I just wish there was something consistent right now.

So not opening AT ALL in 2021? Because I'm booked late June 2021 at POFQ right now. I guess I need to keep trying to get through for more than just to add tickets!

Unfortunately no one knows for sure right now. 😔

I know it's all up in the air right now. I was just really surprised to read the quoted post. The planner me doesn't like this at all. Hahaha! I *almost* snatched up a Yacht Club reservation yesterday when I couldn't add tickets to my existing one online. I let my DH talk me out of it. I'm back to being tempted by that again. hahaha

I would have kept my booking at FQ and changed resorts later if needed if I could make park reservations. But since I had a room-only booking I couldn't make any park reservations. I doubt that January 2021 park reservations are going to fill up any time soon, but not having park reservations would impact my trip more than a switch from FQ to CBR! I hope that if FQ does end up opening that I would have the option of moving back without any price increases.

No, I get that! My point was just that I wish there was some consistency right now. One CM says POFQ is closed until 2022, another says it might open by November 2020. I wish Disney would just say something like "As for the remaining 7 resorts, we do not have a firm reopening date at this time. We intend to reopen these in 2020 but that will depend on demand, availability, COVID, etc." or "We do not intend to reopen these in 2020 but will reevaluate that decision should demand necessitate it." Just something for people to go on that's more than phone CMs and TAs guessing. And then people who already booked at POFQ in 2021 could/should be able to add tickets without having to change their resort right now.

I'm sure that it's subject to change, there's no way they would make a final decision for all of 2021 now. But they must not think they will need the hotel capacity.

Our best hope is that capacity is able to be increased at the parks in the fall, which would allow them to open more resorts. That being said, the COVID numbers in FL right now are not making me feel optimistic about that :( We booked February at POP just to get something booked, but are keeping everything crossed that POFQ opens up so we can modify to stay there.

Honestly I am not particularly optimistic about our trip happening at all. But despite some frustrations the planning has mostly been a pleasant distraction!

Okay! I FINALLY spoke with the most amazing cast member, Casey, about adding tickets to my January 2021 "21 Basic Package" which was originally just a room reservation at POFQ. She was able to keep my reservation at POFQ and successfully added tickets to my package! She reached out to GS and said it was suggested that they keep me where I am. I am so happy!

@Griffin11 - this post is from someone in the POFQ info thread. It sounds like they were in the same situation as you, but the CM was able to keep them at POFQ and add tickets to their room. I'm choosing to take this as "don't lose hope just yet"! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Nice! That's exactly the scenario that I'm looking to do. Nice to know that someone's pulled it off!
