POFQ, easy to get a room there or not for free dining

When they release Free Dining each year for the August through September/October timeframe (the back to school time frame is what I like to call it) how easy is it to get a room at POFQ say within the first few days. I am looking at that resort now instead of CSR since it seems to be booked entirely the last week of August for next year. We also have a Disney Visa if that were to help.

When FD came out for DV on 7/9, I called around 12:30p and had to upgrade to either a water view or riverview to get free dining. I've call a couple of times since then to try and get a lesser priced view and they having nothing. Once CM told me that POR and POFQ are the first resorts to sell out during FD.

I was already booked at POFQ, and called around 1pm when the offer first came out for Disney VISA cardholders. I also had to upgrade to a garden view room.

We have never had a problem getting POFQ. We have stayed there several times for free dining. We have ressies there for Dec for free dining in a standard room this year, but have done sept a few times and jan twice with free dining. I don't think they offer a large amount of rooms for free dining there, but sometimes they release more rooms as it gets closer.

I initially booked my September trip back in March when I got a PIN in the mail for Free Dining. I was not able to get Free Dining for POFQ at that time or POR, but CSR or CBR was available. I love POFQ, so I said I'd just book the room without the dining plan and if something opens up later down the road than good. It is a solo trip after all, so free dining was not really crucial for me anyway. Well about a month or so after when the room only discounts came out, I was able to switch to the Royal Room at Riverside for less than my garden view at POFQ so I jumped on that and switched. About 2 weeks after that some more rooms were again available for free dining at POFQ again but for a river view room only and that ended up being even less than my Royal Room ressie!! So my agent quickly changed me back over to POFQ with free dining in a river view room and I was very happy! So it really does look like it books up pretty fast for free dining, but then some rooms open up so its a hit or miss.

I have always had a difficult time getting into POFQ and CSR standard rooms during FD. They seem to be the first to go...

I was booked at POFQ - garden view - since March. I was unable to get FD there and we had to change our resort to CBR to take advantage of the promotion.

Apparently POFQ is a popular place, and maybe we'll get to go again some other time. /sigh
