Okay, so Pete says they aren't looking for the "sympathy" vote - are you joking???. Come Sept 15th, we will be nominating the Dis because we LOVE it and look forward to (now) Wednesdays and Thursdays with great anticipation. We love the Dis for the great personalities and the many, many laughs that keep us coming back. The thought of a sympathy vote never even crossed my mind, to be honest.

In 2008 we are changing the Podcast Awards Ceremony so that all Podcasters can participate in the awards ceremony. The awards ceremony will be held virtually, last year nearly 1500 people attended the live stream of the event. More details on how we will be accomplishing that will be announced in the coming weeks.

Starting at 0001 15 Sept 2008 Hawaiian Standard Time nominations will be open via website submission.

• <LI type=disc>You can nominate / submit Podcasts One Time Only. <LI type=disc>You can nominate a show for Podcast of the Year or Best Produced, and also submit it to an individual category <LI type=disc>You should not submit the same show in multiple categories multiple submissions are not allowed. <LI type=disc>Duplicate nominations will result in nominations being thrown out! <LI type=disc>Do not abuse the system and submit a single show in multiple categories! <LI type=disc>The nomination form will contain the following:
  • <LI type=square>Podcast name you are nominating <LI type=square>Podcast URL. <LI type=square>Your Name
  • Your Verifiable E-mail Address
  • Comments are critical so the reviewing team understand why a show is deserving of being nominated to the category.

Make sure your e-mail address is valid, as we will be using special validation techniques to check the validity of the account, a percentage of the nominations will receive an e-mail several days after the nomination in which you will have to verify the nomination. No verifications will be sent immediately and not all nominators will receive a verification e-mail.


Nominations will halt at 2359 30 Sept 2008

even though I understand where Pete is coming from but I think the Dis rocks and you should be recognized for your hard work at making a great place for all of us Disney addicts to have a place to worship!!!

Everyone involved in the podcast deserves to be recognized for the hard work & effort they put into each and every show, each and every week.

I listen to several other podcasts, some Disney - some not, and I truly believe that THE DIS is great and deserves the chance to be part of the nominations again this year.

Pete, please change your mind about this. Give your listeners the chance to do you proud. You deserve it....

Pete, I would have to agree. There is no 'pitty vote' at all. If you think the last couple months would influence the votes, to me, that is the true spirit of your show. Bawb was, and still is, a huge part of the show. With everything that has happened over the past few months shows everyone how flexible the format is and how much respect the listeners have for the DIS Unplugged.

You have a great show, always top notch and extremely informational, and a little bit funny too!

You should let the listeners decide which podcast they like the best. They are the ones who will be voting. You don't have to 'pimp' for votes, the listeners will vote for who the want in the end.

I agree....as much as I feel they should win we have to respect their wishes.

But we should respect Petes wishes....but if someone goes against his wishes and nominates them? Then would it be wrong to vote?

I was thinking this too....it kills ya because they SOOOOOOOOOOO deserve it and I know for sure my vote wouldn't be a sympathy vote, but still, Pete really sounded like he'd just prefer not to participate this year. I hate to go against his wishes. Maybe too, if they did win, Pete would always wonder if the sympathy vote is why they won....of course that would not be true, but I can understand the thinking.

That being said....I can't imagine someone out there won't nominate them and then how can you possibly not vote for the DisUnplugged?

I simply do not like them as well, although they are fine for the most part. I understand your desire to support them. But to vote another as "BEST", when I feel that title is only deserved by the DIS Unplugged would be dishonest on my part.

I can only vote my conscience, and will only withhold my vote for this, my favorite podcast, if you truly insist.

As much as I want to respect Pete I agree with DisneyBride.. I love this Podcast and would love to see it recognized and when Pete said he did not want votes I could hear Bawb saying... "What are you Crazy" I feel that I as a listener can do very little to show my support for the team and would love to be able to vote for them. I guess what I am asking is for Pete to reconsider... From this group no sympathy vote is needed.. you are simply the best!!!

I've posted a couple of times what a class act I think Pete is. And his decision to bow out of the podcast awards this year is no exception. I do think that the DIS deserves to be nominated and to win, not for pity or sympathy but because they really are the best. Whatever Pete's wishes are though, I'll respect them.

I love the Dis unplugged but I also listen to Lou's WDW radio and if I cannot vote for Pete in the team I will make sure to vote for Lou. Disney has one of the best podcast communities and someone from that group deserves to win.

That being said, can a moderator pls remove this post? I certainly didn't mean any harm or disrespect to Pete or anyone else at the Table. Honestly, when Pete mentioned it on the show I thought he was downplaying it because he felt that we wouldn't be voting for the show because we loved it but instead because we felt sorry for them. That couldn't be the farthest thing from the truth and that was the reason I posted. I thought my heart was in the right place but I'm obviously getting flamed for making the suggestion. Nobody's trashing you for the suggestion, are they??? If they are, lemmee at 'em! I'll give them what-for!

My immediate response to what Pete asked was the same as yours. I want to vote for them anyway. And I don't think you're disrespecting them at all by showing how much you want to honor the DIS Unplugged...I feel the same. But if they insist on us not voting for them, I'll do what they wish. I'll still WANT to, but I won't.

I hope you don't have this post removed, Stacy. It shows how much you care about them.
