we chose to do the late palo as well so we can dine with our 16 year old DD every night. We figure we will just eat very light that night, then do palo when she goes to the teen club. the one rule we have when we cruise is we all have dinner together each night no matter what, but we usually spend a lot of time together as a family anyways.

Yes I agree. We rarely see our DD16 on cruises during the rest of the day, so meal times are important, since I'm sure if we're not there she just get french fries and chicken nuggets.
Cabanas is a good idea too.We still might be able to see one of the evening shows.

I downloaded the document and saved it. I will try to read it a little at a time, as there is so much information. Just in the little I've read, there are some very interesting tips that I would have had no idea about but for this collection of Disney cruising tips. Thanks to rescuetink for compiling the information and hbg4 for sharing it on this thread.

For those that are wondering what time Sunrise and Sunset will happen on our cruise:
Sunrise = 6:20 am
Sunset = 8:03 pm

Are you not getting off the ship? I read a thread on the DCL boards about "What to Do/What NOT to Do" and overwhelmingly the opinion was that you should NOT get off the boat at Nassau.

I've heard Pete and Roundtable say this before but was curious if people really do it.

We'd like to get our passports stamped, though.

No - not planning on getting off the ship in Nassau. We did that once. No need to do it again, although we did consider doing it just to get Connor's passport stamped. Still could do that at some point during the day but the plan is to just enjoy the relatively empty ship and the AquaDuct.

We've been on the Dream twice now and enjoyed just laying by the pool on Nassau day.

While Nassau isn't my favorite place to visit, I can't imagine visiting any place I haven't been before and not forming my own opinion.

We usually get off the ship, poke around a bit, go out to Atlantis and that's about it.

While you didn't ask me....this is me putting in my two cents.

I'll play devil's advocate here. It's not that I am a huge fan of Nassau - on the contrary, I only get off the ship because my wife always wants to get off and she finds interesting places to see.

She found, quite by accident, Fort Fincastle, built in the 18th Century.

The fort has interesting architecture

and the benefit of giving you a good view of the Wonder (Dream etc.) docked.

She's also spent time in the Pompey Museum of Slavery and Emancipation

There is also Christ Church Cathedral, established in the 17th Century (thought I don't think the building itself is this old).

As Anglican Cathedrals go, Christ Church is small but it does have elegant stained glass and other interesting features.

Best of all, short of the transportation, these were all free or minimal cost. I'm not suggesting anyone who stays on the ship is wrong, history doesn't appeal to everyone, but just though I would throw out this alternate view of Nassau.

OK, I'm trying not to look like a lush here . . . but can anyone tell me what price to expect for drinks on board?

We aren't the kids we used to be (though our kids do keep us young), so it's not a major issue. I'm just trying to decide whether we should bring a bottle or two of our usual spirits to supplement the on-board offerings.

Is carry-on a hassle? I have heard of people bringing a bottle of wine or two . . . I assume that'll go for about anything.

There is no problem bringing alcohol on board as long as it is in your carryon bag. No limits other than the practical one of having to lug it around with you until your cabin is ready.

We found drink prices on board to be comparable to what you would find in a hotel bar. Not outrageous, but not cheap either.

Will DCL let you hold onto your alcohol purchased on shore during the cruise?

When we travelled on Norwegian Cruise lines last year, DH drank his whole bottle of rum before getting back on ship because we weren't allowed to keep it. (Thank goodness it was a small bottle otherwise he would have been staggering up to the ship like "Captain Jack")

Yes, you are allowed to bring your purchase on board with you from the ports of call.
