Podcast Cruise 2.0 Discussion Thread 1 of ????

Hello !

I have not been able to get on the boards for the last week because I was in a storm of home projects getting my condo ready for renters. I did (proud because it was all by myself!):
pulled linoleum and tiled the kitchen and 1/2 bath
Tiled the bathroom
Painted entire unit
Fixed all screen windows
Pulled toilet, fixed closet flange and replaced fill valve
Installed new garbage disposal
Put electrical cord in new dryer
Changed all electrical outlets and switches
Installed new bath fixtures in both baths
Installed new kitchen faucet
Pulled, cleaned and painted all trim
CLEANED THE PREVIOUS RENTERS FILTH (heavy smokers, 3 kids and dog in 2 bedroom condo)

My fingers are throbbing, but I have paying renters in my condo!

There are a few more things left to do, but I did not feel qualified to service the washing machine that they broke and I offered the new renter a little money off of this month's rent if he would install the microwave/hood unit and blinds (I was sooooooo tired, I wanted to go home).

I had heard someone on the podcast team joke about wanting to be a slum lord- I am here to testify that maintaining a property is HARD WORK!

Now that the condo is done, I can go back to vacation planning!

Hi Don. Podcast UNO on Facebook has happened two or three times now. Someone determines that at a certain time, any podcast fan who has podcast friends on Facebook shows up in the UNO application to play.

Have you played UNO on Facebook yet? It's really addicting. You just log in and wait in the "lobby." As soon as any of your friends show up, you click on their pictures to start a game with them.

Sometimes you end up playing with strangers too, but there's a chat portion where you can talk to each other while you play.

Thanks for the info. FB is blocked from work so I will have to check from home. I thought Bejeweled was bad and now you all are suggesting another form of on line addiction (just kidding) I will go and check it out.

I was wondering if you could do a report on what your experience was like volunteering for LAF? I have had friends who have rode in Ride for the Roses in Austin. I am curious what it is like on the other side.

Yes. The past couple of times, Nikki has posted a thread on the podcast board telling what day and time!

It is addicting. You might want to play a few hands with strangers first. Some people are really slow, which gives you a chance to figure it all out.

But I don't think I have enough DIS facebook friends! What should I do?

I haven't played real Uno in years. Should I practice with real cards?

Chat tonight will depend where I'm at. If I'm up at the hospital and planning to spend some time here I will likely be in chat. If I'm on the way home, probably not. Won't know until we see how the rest of the day goes.

Facebook Uno is very fun! You can add alot of us by going through the Uno thread where we put links to our facebook pages. I would suggest just practicing with the game through facebook. It isn't a very hard game to learn either! Hope to see some of you at the next Uno session!

Wow - it's great to see all your hard work pay off, it's great to hear you can now rent out the condo (is that like a vacation home where people stay a week or 2? or somewhere people rent for a year?) I wouldn't be able to do half those things although we did manage to replace the power cable on our Dyson last night Now I can vacuum again

Good morning people - today looks a bit more promising So far I have managed to get the instrument working (it does the analysis here at work) that I spent an hour and half with yesterday swearing at as it would just not calibrate! Rather frustrating!

Had a meeting with a supplier and should be able to get a few more discounts - that will make my boss happy
