South of Monroe and north of Toledo OH. Along Lake Erie.

Talking with my Dad there it has been very hot and dry. To use his words the corn in the feilds look like Pineapple plants, not a good thing. We have had it good so far in Western WA state. Sunshine and 70's so I can not complain.

I am from Rochester Hills. We want to move back since we just had our first DS in April. I saw a report on how the corn crop is bad this year because of the drought. People down here VA Beach don't believe me when I say that Michigan can get more humid and hot than here. This week and the last heat wave were great examples of how quirky weather can be.

I get the same here in Tampa. We have beautiful weather - beautiful breeze & very moderate temps. Much cooler than Orlando. We've been here 5 years & our families in Ohio have had much warmer summers than ours have been.

Sounds like the place to live in Florida. I have a friend who lives in Tampa I guess I should go visit her to check out the weather. I do like the weather down here, but I am eager to move back home. It isn't the same when your whole family is one place and you are somewhere else, especially when you have a young one!

I love my family, but I am not at all upset that we live in Florida and they live in Ohio!!!! DH & I have honestly never looked back. His folks come at Thanksgiving, mine at Christmas and sometimes in July as well. I am so happy to raise her in Tampa instead of anywhere in Ohio. JMHO.

I think if I moved to Florida I wouldn't miss home as much. I am just used to a bigger city than where we live. I know that I want to live in Florida one day. I guess I am waiting for retirement (many, many years away)

I can honestly say that I have never missed home not one day and I know that is not the case for most people. I remember my parents saving up so that we could go to WDW every other year - I didn't want to do that. For me, a theme park isn't a vacation; it's work. We needed a vacation once we got back - it was tiring!! I grew up near (and worked at) Cedar Point. So, why not live close to beaches one way & WDW the other way & travel else where for vacations giving us the best of both worlds? That is where Disney cruises come in Visit theme parks here and there on day/weekend trips thru the year, and use the cruises for a truly relaxing vacation away from technology. And, we live close enough to go on multiple cruises a year, saving money on airfare, pre & post stays in hotels, rental cars or transfers, etc.

Just yesterday we went to Blizzard Beach from 3-6:30pm, had dinner at Downtown Disney, and came home.

There is a trade off. Do we stop over at Grandmas for dinner? No. Can Grandma or Grandpa stop over and watch DD? No. We decided to trade family and awful weather for the excitement and opportunity in Florida. Some may call it selfish. Maybe. It's not for everyone, that's for sure!!!

Man, I haven't been to Cedar Point in forever! I know, we have been bad! I just hope we can still go on the cruise. We want to go home for Thanksgiving and for our son't baptism, so I don't know if we can do the cruise. If we get to move back home, then we can go on the cruise because everything will work out

I grew up in Michigan (Kalamazoo), and I worked at Cedar Point 3 summers when I was in college! When my mom sold our house in Kalamazoo and moved to Sarasota, I moved to Chicago. I am still living in Illinois, and my mom died a few years ago while living in Cocoa. I have no desire to ever live in Michigan again - especially in the winter. While I'd love to live in FL in the winter, I don't think I could tolerate it all summer.

Go Nancy!!!! Worked at Cedar Point's water park, Soak City, as a lifeguard one summer. That was fun stuff!!! Ohio State was on quarters instead of semesters, so instead of going back to school in Aug, we went back in late Sept and got to work the "bonus weekends" after Labor Day, & then drove back thru the 1st weekend in Oct. The lifeguards were the ones that run the haunted houses during Halloweekends!!!!

LOL - I was born in 1979 I do remember them building up - 1st Challenge Park (mini golf, Rip Cord, go karts), then Soak City. Living near there (Lorain, 40 min away) I saw that place transform. I can tell you, at least when I was in high school, that park was as clean as Disney - well taken care of!!

We plan on taking DD there, but there, the magic number is 48". DD won't be happy with kiddie stuff - she wants big time. The mind & heart is willing, but the height isn't there yet. Hoping we'll be 42" by the Podcast cruise for the Aquaduck (she's about 41.5" now).

I will pay in full 2 days before the 90-day mark for booking Palo, etc., because that's the day after my Disney Visa statement closes! I will use all of my rewards dollars towards the remaining cruise balance.

I imagine "CP" means Candlelight Processional and not "Cedar Point"! I would like to hear Olivia Newton John on Dec. 15 or 16 - but I'll have to renew my AP, get a new AP, or use a few days on a non-expiring park hopper. I'll watch from the back of the theater, as I doubt I'll book the dinner package. Yes, I remember when Cedar Point was as clean as WDW. I worked all 3 summers in food service: at the employee cafeteria in '75, at a food stand next door to the ice cream parlor in '76, and as a waitress at the Silver Dollar in '77. Fun times!

First podcast cruise and I just think thats so cool

Will be paying off cruise in full in just a few weeks. Then everything will be booked and paid off and I can do the full happy dance

Is everyone using the Podcast transport to the cruise?

We haven't decided just yet. We may drive down in which case we will just drive to the port. Even if we fly, we may wind up with a rental car because we will be doing stuff before/after. In that case we'll probably drive to the port and drop it off at the car rental office, then get a new rental for the return trip.

OTOH, we may just take the transportation. We did that on PCC 1.0, 2.0 and to the port on 3.0. Worked out well.

We've never been to CP. Made reservations for Dec 24 with lunch. Not sure of the speaker. Just that date would feel like our Christmas back home.
