I'm an only child - with just my elderly parents. We'll have Christmas with them on Christmas and everything will be okay. Phillip's family is about 3-1/2 hours away in Lexington, KY. We usually visit them between Christmas and New Year's Eve, so that won't change.

When we packed away our Christmas decorations in January, we did so with December 2010 in mind. Instead of putting up the crazy three or four trees this year, I'll put up one - the simplest one - the 1950's/60's aluminum one with the color wheel and shiny plain ornaments. It will be painful for me to not go all out, but that's what makes sense. Everything else got pushed to the back and the things we'll need for our "basic" holiday are in the front.

However, at work, Phillip will still have to go all out decorations-wise and will have to do it in a compressed timeframe. It took some convincing, but he didn't want to miss this trip any more than I did.

We're leaving everyone at home for Christmas  - it will be our first one with just the two of us. I think we'll celebrate Christmas before we go, give people their presents.

Not sure if I'll decorate, I got a 12 inch or so tree after Christmas last year pretty cheap which I'll take with us and a few ornaments (probably hand made so I can leave them behind).

I'm glad you aren't missing

Wow! That was great planning to pack away the decorations with the December events in mind.

What does Phillip do for work that he has to decorate?

He's a gigolo - that's why he must go all out with the decorating at the holiday times.

Best part of being divorced is 1 house for holidays! ;)

Last year, I was hosting Thanksgiving, Christmas, and a friend get together in December - after moving into a new house November 1st... We had the tree up and decorated before Thanksgiving for the first time EVER since I was leaving in the middle of it all for Todd-a-Palooza!

Normally we trim the tree the day after Thanksgiving (I'm home and we're all bored), but I'm glad we did it early last year, since I sliced my finger open after everyone left on Thanksgiving. :sad2:

This year, Meg will be in Florida... I don't have to put up the tree at all! :cool1: I'll be gone the 10th - 19th anyway.

We can pretend to have a good old fashion Christmas in the villa one morning. It may not be Dickensian, but at least it'll be without fighting and animosity. (And if Jen's youngins start acting up, I can whip out the duct tape.)

I know Todd just said that he doesn't have a problem, but wondering how many people this date was a struggle for? I'm not exactly sure how family Christmas is going to work out since we will be gone for two weekends.

The cruise wasn't a struggle for dates. But if DD gets the BIO class she wants, pre-cruise plans will have to be changed because that exam is on Friday.:scared1:.

I'm an only child and both parents have passed on.
Kat doesn't really do Christmas with her family.
So it's just us for the holidays.
That's why we planned on spending (no pun intended) it in WDW again like last year.
No tree to put up, no decorations..........lights still up from last year :lmao:
My B-day is the 29th, so we are adding that in again, and heck, New Years is only 2 days away so....why not?
Our DVC points really take a beating, but it's worth it.
I see an add-on in our future.

I'm going to be scrambling to get the outside decorations up right after Thanksgiving, set up the tree, and decorate the house. I also told my daughter that we have to get the Christmas shopping done before we leave, except for those gifts that we are buying the week we are in Florida....which I am thinking is going to be most of them. Not sure what I'm going to do for my co-workers gifts..that will have to be done before the trip also..won't have time after we get back...speaking of which, we get back on Thursday and my Christmas Party for work is that Saturday.

My Christmas Plans depend on if DS companion comes with. If she doesn't may stay in FL a couple extra days. DH mom and dad rent RV space in Tampa (McDill) for the winter. Family gets gift cards.

I am really happy that I get to see holiday decorations at WDW since I don't put any up at home. Talk about overload!

What I really like is skipping and singing along with the holiday music.
What? :confused3
You don't want to be in the parks with me with I sing along?!

We booked 2.0 knowing full well that I could have an issue with work. My company decided three years ago that most businesses would furlough during the last two weeks of the year. This year that starts December 22. So to do 2.0 it meant being away from work from December 10th until January 4th. Not an easy task.

Add to that my upper management team was replaced /resigned at the beginning of February. My new Director is an outstanding exec. I explained the situation to him a month ago and he insisted I take the time. :woohoo: He knows the true value of team and just stated as a team we'll figure out the coverage needed. :thumbsup2 He's a good guy.

Christmas celebration is a big deal on my side of the family and given dads recent health issues, missing a Christmas together is not an option. I've tried to get mom to consider her and dad coming on a cruise with us but she'll have none of that. Stuck in her ways she is. Christmas is too busy for her. :headache:

Deb and I will arrive early on the 10th, will spend some pre- Boardwalk meet time on the 11th with Renysmom and her DH. Breakfast at Whispering Canyon on the 12th then to port with booze in tow. :)

The 16th will be MVMCP, 17th DATW, then we'll have Saturday through Monday for parks and touring. We head for home on the 21st at 7 pm.

Christmas buying and our minimalist decoration will be complete the weekend of December 5th. We need to finish everything! ::yes::

I'll be at a course in New Mexico detonating explosives until Dec. 10th. I'm going pretty much directly from NM to WDW. Lots of traveling in December. :thumbsup2
