"pod" question(s)

Does the word "podcast" have something to do with I-Pods? I just now noticed that they both have the word "pod" in them.

I hear about them all the time, but I've never listened to a podcast. (But I can set a VCR ).

Why are I-Pods called I-Pods anyway ? I guess what I'm asking is. . . What makes an I-Pod pod-like? And does the "I" stand for something?

I still think of the pods from Invasion of the Body Snatchers when I hear "pod". That's what "podcasts" makes me think of.

The podcast has something to do with I-Pods. I love podcast. I seriously have downloaded more podcast then songs lol and they are all disney related. They are free and you get them at Itunes.com and a lot of them update daily, weekly or monthly!
