Did anybody notice the boy with the braces at the beginning?

When I first saw him I kinda thought that too. I don't think that they were braces. I think they were supposed to be stained funky teeth. He might have had braces at some point and the stain set in more of a criss cross pattern.

My question, in the similar thead I started (;)) is if Barbosa was one of the captains of the eight and so was Sparrow, how could Barbosa have mutinied against Sparrow?

Just saw POTC3. Man, what a mess. So much action, which was fun, but it was barely coherent - even less so than POTC2. The first scene you describe was one of many disjoints in the movie. I would say I enjoyed it more than POTC2, but was wishing for the simple storyline of POTC1 which could be followed by mere mortals.

I agree it was difficult to follow, but very interesting. I thought the scene at the beginning was an intro into what was going to happen in the movie...but after seeing the scene at the end of the credits I think it was a vision of things to come, unless I'm crazy and reading too much into things (which is entirely possible!).

Some of it was a bit too far off (scene with the many Jack's in the desert for one) for my taste. I think the boy had braces and they tried to cover it up and make it look like dirty teeth. Bad choice I think...

*^*^*^* Spoilers to follow!!! ....

I didn't see braces at all -- I just saw brown rotten teeth.

And that scene at the beginning was not the future. The boy started singing and that's what caused the council of the 9 pieces of 8 to need to assemble. The boy at the beginning was not the boy at the end.

I totally noticed that, too!! I thought maybe he was just supposed to have nasty pirate teeth, but when they got the close up of his face right before he was hanged, I could clearly see the braces! After the movie, I said to DH2B that he must be related to someone because couldn't they find a kid that didn't have braces? And if he *had* to be in it, since they clearly had a very large budget for CG effects, why not just digitally removed them?

On another note, I thought it was a good movie. However, I do agree with those that felt it was a bit too complicated at times - but in the end, I think it all came together.
Now, I may be in the minority here, but I'm just not a big fan of the Elizabeth/Will romance. I can see why they needed it, but I thought this one focused on it a bit too much. I also think that Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom severely over act their parts. All in all, the 2nd one was my favorite. I know a lot of people thought it was too campy, but I absolutely loved it. Full of lore, action, fun and a little bit of a love story peppered in. :wizard:

You want errors...Here's an error...

Will Turner's necklace has many little items on it.

the main bundle of things is at the bottom and then there is a shivy shell which is tied to it a little further up on the right side (Will's left).

The necklace looks fine in the first half of the movie....

Then somewhere in the second half the necklace is reversed and the shiva is tied on the left side and shown that way at least a few times.

and no the necklace is not on backwards because a shiva shell has the shell/swirl only on one side (the back is dark) so it would be obvious if it was just on backwards.
