We are planning a short trip to WDW over Thanksgiving. We love PO-FQ but have never stayed @ WL. For the money we are leaning toward going back to PO-FQ. Should we try WL for such a short period of time? Thanks in advance.

For such a short period of time i'd stay at PO-FQ. But defintly look in to staying at the WL I hear its beautiful!

WL is considered a deluxe. I believe there is a difference in bed size in that you have queens at the WL and only doubles at the POFQ. WL has inside corridors while POFQ are outside. WL offers sit down restauarant and more eating options -- POFQ has sit down at POR but not at POFQ. The theme is also different -- very much like the Pacific Northwest -- very nice, though. For us, after living in the Pacific Northwest for 16 years the theme wasn't attractive...it was just like being at home. Just as the Coronado Springs theme isn't attractive since we now live in the SW.

I think it depends on what you want out of your visit. If you are going to spend a little more time at the hotel then you might want to try WL. If not, then the POFQ would cost less and afford you many of the things that the WL offers. If you are going to spend more time at the MK or the area surrounding it, then the WL might be a good option. Again, it all depends on what you are looking for out of the trip. Personally, we wouldn't spend the extra for the WL ... if we were to splurge we would go for the Epcot area due to its location and we like BC/YC stormalong bay.

Either place those is nice, and after all, you will be at Disney... what more could one want?

If you want easy transportation to MK, stay at WL. The boat is a fun, easy way to get to MK.

We have stayed at both and they are both nice. There were things I liked about both of them. WL is beautiful and has queen size beds.

Have a wonderful time no matter where you decide to stay

Thanks for the replies. We really like PO-FQ and are leaning that way especially for such a short stay (3night, 4day). I love to try something different since we have stayed there but it was great! Can't wait to get back to Disney!

Having stayed at both I recommend WL, JMHO. We felt completely cut off from the Disney experience at POFQ, plus thin walls and outside corridors aren't our cup of tea. The WL is lovely, and if you are going to be there during Thanksgiving the holiday decorations are a sight to see! That is a very busy time at WDW and the convenience of being that close to the MK is a plus.

The lodge will be decorated for Christmas at that time of year. It is simply gorgeous with its Christmas finery. Three days at the lodge is like a week's vacation as far as relaxation. Go for the lodge for that time of year.

I would choose Wilderness Lodge because it's so beautiful especially at Christmas, the Lodge will be decorated during you stay.

When staying at a new resort I try and stay during Value Season for the best rates, and for a few days so I can get the feel of the resort. Then decide if a longer visit during a extended vacation would be right for myself and family.
