Morning, everybody

Paige, I was going to say #3, but you know more about how teachers work than I do - I was basing on personality and teaching style, and completely discounting the whole new curriculum problem.

When do you have to be back at school?

Yeah, I'm stuck between 2 and 3.

I am helping with registration this morning. Officially I start Monday.

Kids go the 27th. Thing 1 has his clothes. Needs a first day binder, paper and pens, lunch money and maybe new shoes. His are really fine, but he wants new ones. We won't know about specialized supplies for him until after the first day of school. Thing 2 has his uniforms, I need to exchange 2, lunchbox, backpack, crayons, pencils, kleenex. He needs shoes, a belt, lunchbox snacks and the rest of his supplies.

Then you know it'll be PTA memberships, yearbook sales, school shirts and so on for both of them.

It gets expensive, doesn't it? I don't know how people with a baseball team's worth of children can possibly afford it.

Oh, and good morning. :)

I was leaning towards 3 because of the good personality fit. I know when I taught that a fit with the students was very important. If she's a really good teacher, she'll be spending a lot of time a home on the prep and will be able to ease into the new cirriculum fairly well in front of the kids. It sounds like structure is important to him, but too much pushes him over the edge.

(anyway, that's just my two cents...you know best)

OK, at the "w" place. Connor is in underware at school today :scared:

Hope I took enough extra clothes. He pooped in his drawers this morning, so I'm pretty worried.

Good morning!

I don't know how much it costs...I'm new to this whole thing and not dealing with it well :sad1: My baby starts on the 30th. We have her teacher's name and I'll meet with her on the 28th.

She doesn't have school on the 4th and 5th and then goes full time as of the 6th. When did she grow up?

She's not grown up Koolaid. Okay, off to get ready to go to registration.

Lara, it's sinking in to me that if Molly moves out Sept. 1st, there's every chance she'll never live at home again. While I think it's a good thing for her and for us if it happens, the enormity of the thing is starting to feel a little like a huge boulder on my chest.

Good Morning everyone !
My kids are already having homework. I agree school is so expensive but understand why they ask for so much extra. Class donations etc. Yearbooks at the high school are 55 bucks this year and 35 at the middle school. Not to mention each teacher in middle school wants their own 1 1/2 inch binder. They are only allowed 2 trips to their locker a day so its heavy stuff to carry around not to mention if they have homework from 1 and 2 period then they are carrying that from like 11 o'clock on. My BF weighed her daughters back pack with all her binders and books it was 19 lbs. We are creating a generation of injured backs before they get a chance to really use them. The high school doesnt even have lockers. They carry all their stuff all day !!

High today is 106 tomorrow 107 !! Im ready for winter.

Well I, for one, need to have a get drunk and cry fest sometime really soon (after mom's surgery tomorrow). You are all welcome to join me, then we can PUI together.

aww litebrite... hugs
Im already thinking my oldest is almost 16 and she has plans to move in with my mother as soon as she graduates high school. While its the bext thing for her considering how her dad acts , Im already saddened by the thought. Thing is the quicker they grow up the quicker we get OLD.

Ill get drunk with ya Lara...but Im a giggly drunk :)
however I'll let ya snot on me .
Ok off to take one to school the other is already gone with a friend.

Aww, LB. I dread when that day comes with my own children, and it's not that far down the road with my oldest. Look at it this way... the more steps she makes toward becoming an independent adult, the closer you are toward having grandchildren to love.

They were 55 at the middle school here last year. WAY too much. :sad2:

I'm there. I'll keep your mom (and you and your dad) in my prayers tomorrow. :grouphug:

I am actually feeling a little whacko today, because of the extreme mix of emotions I have going on right now -

:yay: This is for having our house to ourselves again, doing what we want when we want

 This is for my one and only baby never living under my roof again (never say never, though, anything's possible)

:dance3: This is cause we're leaving for WDW the day after tomorrow!

wow LB thats a big range of emotions! We are all here for all of them :)

Hiya 4's !
How did your husband take the news of your job?

I didn't tell him. :lmao:

He had worked all day and then had a night job. He grabbed dinner at a drive thru on the way home, and then pretty much went right to bed to get nap in before leaving again. Plus the kids wanted to be there when I told him because they thought it would be funny. :confused3

So, I'll tell him tonight.

your kids think it will be funny? poor you !
I hope hes suportive. Its not like its an all day job and you can still be home in the evenings with the kids. Its a great opportunity. I hope I can get a job at the schools next year when my youngest starts .

Finally getting around to saying Good Morning :wave2: I am the substitue riddle goddess today and boy is that a busy job! http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1548669

Still doing laundry and trying to get my house in order before vacation. We have decided to visit Niagara Falls while we are up in NY. I am so excited--I have never been before and have always wanted to go and didnt' realize how close it was to where we will be. Our friends may join us.
