PMS in a Handbasket--Don't be afraid, just bring us food... Part 13

Well, okay, update on Vero's and my friend. She wasn't hurt in the accident. She had a cut on her leg that needed 5 stitches, but they transported her for that and because her vehicle was pretty smashed up.

So while stitching her, she said she felt nauseous. They gave her anti-nausea, and she fell asleep, which they said wasn't uncommon. But she didn't wake up like she should have.

So they did do one MRI and found a blood clot at the base of her brain and they went in to break it up, but it had already dissolved or broken up on its own by the time they got her in. But damage has been done to the sleep/wake part of her brain. So she's literally just sleeping and unable to wake.

Yesterday's MRI was her second and we don't know those results, and they did another test which our principal couldn't remember and we don't know those results. So for now we know nothing except she simply can't wake up.

Her parents are not here yet, her husband's are. Her mom and one brother are coming today, and her dad and the other brother tomorrow.

The parents of the children in her class were called yesterday.

Her husband has asked for prayers, for those of you who do that.

There are three crisis counselors here.

Oh no! I didn't read about this. I don't know her, but I will certainly say a prayer for her. I'm so sorry. :worried:

Thanks Im and Briarmom.........and Frogz, I think asked if she was on a ventilator........yes, she is.

Oh Paige!!! I'm so sorry about your friend! :grouphug:

Wow, Paige. :grouphug: to everyone involved.

I wonder if the force of the accident caused the clot to break apart. It could be that having the accident and being in the hospital when she went to sleep could potentially save her life. Is she breathing on her own?

She is breathing on her own, they have her on the respirator, to make sure she gets enough oxygen or in case she stops..........i don't know, our principal wasn't very clear on that. It's so hard to get information 4th hand.

Thing 1 just called and has his "issue" (same as Shug's) and I have to find a way to get him home and fix him. So I'll see you all later.

Robin, I don't deal well with anything anymore.

Paige, I am so sorry to hear about what's happening with your friend. How devestating. I have said a prayer for you all. :grouphug:

His daddy is picking him up. I just asked him at breakfast yesterday how he'd been doing and he said he'd gone the day before. Darn kid. Now he says it was four days. Dad picks him up, he'll get griped at more and he'll tell us like he should.

Tig, you might be right. That accident could've saved her life. If she'd just wake up.

I was just reading back a few pages and saw your post. Did you know my maternal grandparents are from Ireland and my paternal grandmother is from Prague? This is such a coincidence! Wish I was going with you - have a great time!!! pixiedust:

That's really cool, Auntie! As my eastern Kentucky relations say when they get up to leave your house and go home, "Y'all come go with us, now". :rotfl2:

Paige, I am praying for your friend, and for you. Specifically I'm praying that her long sleep is giving her body the time it needs to heal, and that when she does wake up she'll be much better.

So we come out of the play yesterday, and walk by Sephora. Since I won't be in the city much anymore, I figured I would go in and get my Bare Escentuals mineral veil and powder. So I grab the two *little* containers and go to the register. It comes to $47.69 - DH is like "I think they made a mistake!". I'm like, no, that's what it costs! I forgot that I never used to tell him what I spent on my lunch hour - he would faint if he knew what I used to spend on lunch :rotfl2:

Aw Paige :grouphug: I am praying for her. I had her in my thoughts last night. And especially for the children in her class. I know that mine would be devistated if something happened to their teachers.

I guess it sounds good that it isn't a head injury from the trauma of the accident. Keep us updated. Let's have faith that she needs time to heal and will wake up when she is better.

How did you like The Drowsy Chaperone?

How did you like The Drowsy Chaperone?

It was alot of fun - light and fluffy. It was a cute idea; the narrator is alone in his apartment listenting to an album from an old Broadway musical and it all comes to life in his living room. I like musicals because you escape the everyday for a couple of hours. I would definitely recommend it.

The only thing I didn't like was that there was no intermission. When they announced that I got a little claustrophic - the thought of being stuck in my seat for so long. :crazy2: I start worrying that I will need to go the the ladies room or something and get up and cause a scene.

What, you mean sometimes you go places and you don't cause a scene? I didn't know that was even possible. :confused3
