This Birthday surprise will follow her party & nap :thumbsup2 , my baby DD (will be 3 tomorrow :guilty: ) & this will be her first movie ever! Also, DD5, thought we had it all planned, a dinner cinema (sit at tables & order from menu to eat during movie) about an hour from her had Over The Hedge, surpise trip into city, hotel w/pool & first movie (coming of age for 3y.o. @ our house), anyway they changed times & only have it in the afternoon, so we can keep plans & see it Sunday afternoon, or see Cars Sat evening, however, read not so nice reviews & DH says since Cars is also playing 5 mins from our house no trip to city w/hotel & pool?! :sad2:

I enjoyed Cars a great deal more than Over the Hedge, yet I must admit Over the Hedge probably appeals more to babies because there are many animals involved. Cars has a great message for Adults...OTH is funnier.

Well, DS 2.5 loves Cars and we've seen it twice. I'm not sure what reviews you've read but DH and I both loved it and I've read some great reviews. The only thing I'm not nuts about is they use the word 'hell' twice (they refer to 'Hillbilly Hell'). I haven't personally seen Over the Hedge but a friend of mine said that she wasn't nuts about it because of some hitting between the characters and the characters saying they 'hate' each other.

Being a Disney board and Cars being a Disney/Pixar movie, I think you'll get lots of Cars lovers here.

Cheers!

My DD really liked Cars but she enjoyed Over the Hedge as well. The only thing that I have to say about Cars is that at the very beginning it may be a little loud. It's only like that when they are on the race track. I cant remember if 3 year olds are sensitive to loud noises. (Yes it has been that long) Either way you can't go wrong with either movie....Have fun!!!!!

We've seen both and enjoyed both. I would say do Over the Hedge though. My sons are Cars FANATICS and would probably disagree but if this is DD's first movie, Cars, while a good movie, is a LONG for little ones. It is right at 2 hours so a good half hour longer than your average kid movie. Lots of friends have said their kids liked it but it was just a bit too long for the attention span of a preschooler.

I really enjoyed Cars. My DS3 loves the Cars toys. We took him to OTH for his first movie ever and then about 1 month later went to Cars. OTH kept his interest much better. Cars was a long movie and towards the end there is a scene that sort of drags out and is more of a romance story line that went over his head as well as DD6.

I'd stick with OTH.

My daughter is 2yo and she LOVES Cars. We've seen it twice and she now has Cars pjs, underwear, sheets, toys, etc. She did get a bit bored with maybe 15 minutes left in the movie, but other than that she was glued to the screen. We were going to see OTH the 2nd time we saw Cars, but she begged and begged to see Cars again so that's what we did.

While I think Cars is the better movie, I think the younger kids will enjoy OTH more. At least my DS4 and DS3 did.

I vote for Cars. I have a 2 year old daughter and a 4 year old son. They both LOVED Cars better than Over the Hedge. Over the Hedge seemed a bit over their heads. Good luck, either will be fun!

My kids DS 3 and DD 6 both loved Cars and have seen it twice. Over the Hedge my daughter like it but was crazy about it. My son fell asleep for most it.

My vote is for Cars. My ds, 5, has seen it twice and is always talking and laughing about different scenes. We also saw OTH. It was only ok imo, but my ds liked it. I wasn't real excited about what OTH was "teaching" my ds. Not that it was bad or anything, it's just the Cars movie had a good lesson in it about winning (which is something that my ds needs to learn).

My dd 4 liked OTH better. Cars was pretty long and she said it was "boring". (I liked it though.) I think the length of the movie could make a big difference for a child that age, though.

Thank you so much everyone!!! AND that does it ~ we have to see both! :3dglasses Actually, we'll do OTH this weekend, DD3 still can not stand loud noises, not even Disney fireworks, & also sounds like Cars may be just slightly too long, OTH @ dinner theater for lunch matinee on Sunday & since both DDs already are in love with Cars lots of Happy Meal toys, water bottles, etc. @ our house, as soon as it comes to the dinner theater (usually about a month after they stop it in theaters, but before video release) Cars will be next! :thumbsup2

I'd see Over the Hedge. Cars is a great movie but it's long and slow at times. My 5 y.o. was bored. OTOH she sat through Over the Hedge just fine because it's shorter and fast paced. JMHO!
