Shopping for a cheap used car to get me through a year or so, until we can afford to buy new again, I found a 1993 Plymouth Laser that looks decent and is under $1000. I'm certain it has very high mileage, but haven't found any significant warnings about them. I don't want to shell out $15-$20 for an online car report.

Does anyone know anything about these cars? They are similar to the Mits. Eclipse/Eagle Talon.

I've never heard of this car. I'll bump you back to page one so you can get some advice :)

Here is a link (hopefully it works) to a couple of quick consumer reviews from Edmunds. I had a '97 Eagle Talon which is pretty much the same thing (as is the Eclipse, at least they have the same shell) and had no problems with it. On a side note, in the eighties, the Laser was my grandpa's dream car. He looked at the brochures everyday, never did get one though :(

We had a 1985 Chrysler laser before plymouth took over the model. it was a real good car except small two kids did not fit well as they grew.

If it is the version with the turbo, I would seriously consider NOT purchasing the car. I have a friend who owned one and had constant problems with the turbo. Another friend who is a seasoned Dodge mechanic could not get the turbo problems resolved no matter what he tried.

I have heard the similar thing with the turbos...
How about an older foreign car??
them things seem to run forever...

Here's what it looks like...

the one in question is a base model, with merely 92 hp (had 130 in the last car). It will do for around town, entering the highway will be another story.

Thanks for the input!
