Anyone else hear of this? I could only find a small reference online, saw the story on the BBC:

"Little Oliver Davey really got a kick out of a trip to Disneyland — when Pluto BOOTED him. Three-year-old Oliver tried to say hello to his favourite character, thinking the famous daft dog figure was real.

But as he pulled at the furry costume Pluto kicked him on the shin with a heavy shoe, knocking him down.

Sobbing Oliver's parents Adrian and Susie were stunned by the attack in a Disney hotel at the Paris resort."

Clicky.

Disneyland Paris. As if you didn't already know.

I wonder if he really intentionally kicked the kid or did the big feet just get out of hand?

I worked as a character at WDW in the early 80's. As part of the training they show you a video that a guest took of the three little pigs playing around in front of the castle. One of the pigs went to kick the big bad wolf and didn't see that a toddler walked in front of him. Instead of kicking the wolf he kicked the kid and the kid went flying. This was shown to emphasize the fact that the sight lines in the costumes are obstructed and you should be careful when interacting with guests. I would guess that pluto did not see the child and it was a mistake.

I remember being in one of the Communicores/Innoventions, when the section with all the handouts for teachers was still there, and Chip and Dale showed up. The place filled with little children almost immediately. Now mind you, the area wasn't that large to begin with. Add two oversized chipmunks and many, many children and you could almost see what was going to happen. Chip or Dale, I can never tell them apart, was interacting with one child and then turned around to work the other side of the area. Well, the was a child behind him and this poor kid just got nailed with Chip/Dale's tail and went sailing. LOL! Sorry, I still chuckle thinking about it. The child wasn't hurt and C/D never even knew what happened.

I am 30 years old and have been going to Disney since I was 5. I haven't seen or experienced a character kicking someone but I have gotten patted on the bottom on a few different occassions :earseek:

Well, years ago, we observed a kid yanking so hard at plutos tail, that it came off! The kid dropped it, the parents thought it was hilarious, and plutos keeper picked up the tail and walked back stage with him. Both that kid AND his parents should have been given a good swift kick!

Chip or Dale, I can never tell them apart

Chip is the smart one, black nose and regular teeth (wore the Indiana Jones costume on Rescue Rangers)

Dale is the silly one, red nose and buck teeth (hawiian shirt on Reescue Rangers)
:umbrella:

LOL! The way I remember them apart is that Chip has a chocolate CHIP nose and Dale's is red.

Let's see, this was in Paris, so Pluto was most likely French...

If the boy was an American, I'd say it was intentional.

If the boy was German, must have been an accident, because surely Pluto would have surrendered to the boy first...

Otherwise I'll go with accident.

Hopefully the child wasn't English or he would have had Goofy and Donald laying in the boot!!!

From what I read Pluto was getting annoyed at the kids so he booted one that kept hugging him; I think he got fired for it too.

Where did you read that Pluto was getting annoyed or that he got fired? It's certainly not in the small article you referenced in your OP, and you've already said you couldn't find anything else about it. Is there another link you've found that you haven't included??
