Hello!

Certainly WalMart & Target had sizes up to 24 if that helps? The US sizes tend to cater for a wider range of sizes than we do in the UK I'm happy to say :)

Try J C penney, Sears, and Ross dress for less we brought loads of plus size clothes at these stores for my sister and she's a size 18/20.

I'm sure some of these stores go up to a size 3x/4x - so your wife should have no problem getting clothes as she a bit smaller than these sizes. Also the bonus is the american sizes tend to be bigger that ours.

Macys and Dillards are good. They have a whole dept of bigger sizes called woman. Larger sizes in dept stores are called woman section and quite often are next to the petite ranges. Goodness knows why!!
Also in the outlets Elizabeth is the larger section of Liz Claiborne well made clothes at a fraction of the cost in the UK. They have an outlet at the top of International Drive just before Beltz.
Believe me your wife wont have any trouble buying clothes to fit. And with loadsof choice.
Happy shopping. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

LANE BRYANT!! I love that shop!!!

www.lanebryant.com..

if she registers she will get some great money off codes via email that she can take with her.

There is one at the florida Mall and one near Belz Outlet.

Also Torrid (see Torrid.com) at the Florida Mall

Theres also a fab shop called Avenue over there. it is in one of the mall but cant remember which one. Sorry

So is Lane Bryant anything to do with Evans then? I notice they have a range of clothing called "Seven" which I'm sure Evans do (or did)?

If you want trendy, the chain you want is Torrid. (There is a location in the Florida Mall in Orlando.) To see a sampling, go to www.torrid.com. If she is all right with shopping online, also see www.alight.com which is online only (she could always order just before the holiday and have the order shipped to the resort.)

The big dept. store chains in the US tend to carry pretty matronly stuff in plus sizes (M&S would be trendier, for the most part.) I'm in my mid-40's, and I tend to not want things that are as trendy as Torrid has, but I don't wish to look like my own grandmother, either. I buy a lot at Eddie Bauer, but most of their things stop at around size 20.

i used lanebryant and they were excellent. what i would also say though is there was some lovely stuff in big and tall which i think suits females better than men and i shopped there too................

and boy did we shop.

Make sure your DW checks sizing and maybe tries things on more than she would at home. Also for a UK 22 she'll need a 20 or smaller -although the exception seemed to be Adidas, where I needed large trackie bottoms where everything else I bought had been medium. Even the Disney stores have lots of stuff up to 3XL

Strangely shoes come up smaller (especially trainers)

wallmart went up to size 26 - which is our size 28 but it is advisable just to check as with all clothes sometimes it is a neat fit and not necessarily the size on the label. iykwim

k-mart also had t-shirts that went up to 4x and were quite cheap.
jc penney also do a large size section too.

lanebryant were the nearest equivalent to our evans and the staff were friendly - there is one in the florida mall and the staff there were excellent entertaining my kids while i tried things on, and told them where to buy and choose their own teddy :guilty: which i had to buy!!!

nike - the factory store had clothes up to a 3x and 4x but the shoes were the opposite. i am a size 7 and my trainers i bought were a 9.5.

so try before you buy

Aren't our sizes two up from US sizes, not one up as mentioned?

So our size 20 is a US 16 :flower:

I'm not sure Karen but that's one way to get an ego boost anyway! :rotfl:

I love Old Navy stuff - they go up to an XXL so I have an awful lot of tops from there. It's definitely my favourite shop :) Torrid sounds great, there is some lovely stuff on their website - thanks for that :cheer2:

My sister says our sizes are 2 sizes up, but I found it varied (and with s,m,l its only 1 as they are for 2 sizes anyway, if you see what I mean  )

And jeans have to be tried on as the sizing is often weird - I can try on 5 pairs of jeans from different manufacturers (in the same size) and only find one to fit! :rolleyes1

no, lane bryant is nothing to do with Evans... but its a similar sort of shop (although probably a little more upmarket than Evans)

sizing is odd.. i find it REALLY varies. I often find myself buying the same size I would at home...

Hi, someone else already mentioned it, but here is their website..
www.avenue.com. I shop there all the time when I'm in the States. Check out their website for the store locations.

From the brit guide book - the recommendation is that us sizes are one size down from uk - uk 16 is a us 14. From experience i found this to be the case, in most things but it still pays to try - even if you dont want to try in the store, take them back to the hotel and if they dont fit return them. i found every shop that i shopped in quite happy to do this providing reciepts were kept. I tried in store for most things though.

For shoes the opposite - a uk7 is a us8 although in actual practice a us 9.5 were the actual fit.

Lane bryant is my favorite shop in the US for plus sizes, so sign up for the e-mail notices, I have saved a ton of money there with their "gift cheques". The cheaper version, as Old Navy is to the Gap, of Lane Bryant is Fashion Bug and they also carry plus sizes.

Then, I hit Old Navy as they now have a womens plus size now, but you will be able to shop form both the regular sizes and plus there. Have looked at the Avenue site, really like the items there, but they do not have a store in the greater Orlando area.

Torrid is for a younger crowd, like 25 and under, but check out there web site they tend to carry some disney themed items.

Keep your Walmart receipts then if anything shrinks or you want to change it you can take it back to Asda in the UK.

Although so far the only thin that has shrunk is DH's Grumpy t-shirt from WDW. At least he says its the T-shirt shrinking.... :rotfl:
