Anyone know where the best places to go for plus sized clothes in Orlando?

Hiya
There are a few places that carry plus size clothing (called WOMENS),Wallmart, Target, K Mart, Catherines, Avenue, Dots. Im not sure exactly where they are in the Orlando area but these shops are a staple all over America. You can put in the name and click "store finder" and you will see the nearest one to where you are staying. Good Luck!

depends what you're looking for ... (and what size!)

I think the Evans equivalent for want of a better word is Lane Bryant - they're at the Florida Mall

Torrid is also at the Florida Mall - they're younger/trendier ...

I've bought the odd thing at Dress Barn Woman ... but I consider it more my mum's clothes!!

My fave place is Macys at either the Florida Mall or the Mall at Millenia (or lets face it, at both!) especially in the sale (which always seems to be happening!) you can get labels like Ralph Lauren and Tommy Hilfiger which you can't get in plus sizes in the UK ... I always seem to leave with bags of stuff and have spent very little!!

how on earth have I missed that???? I NEVER buy myself anything when I'm in Florida because I've never really found anything in my size. I had no idea that Macy's did designer stuff in plus sizes I've only ever got my DD17 stuff like apple bottoms and baby phat from there and then left... I will be checking out Macy's and the other shops that you mentioned when we got in December,, thanks for posting

they do apple bottoms and baby phat in plus sizes too ... I have apple bottom jeans which I think cost about $15 in the sale!!

You do have to search upstairs for the 'woman' department!!

Torrid has some awesome things!! But what is size 1,2,3,4,5? :confused3

if you are looking for gents stuff there is a shop outside the florida mall near an olive garden (sorry cant remember the name at the moment) that is all for plus size and tall men. JC penny also has a plus size/tall gents range.

Womens wise JCpenny had a few things as well. ok so some of it was a bit frumpy but there was some good stuff if you were willing to look.

Thanks :) Defo going to go to Torrid :thumbsup2 Love their Alice in wonderland stuff :goodvibes

Just got back from Orlando last Saturday and being a plus size girly, I found it extremely disappointing looking for clothes. Considering that alot of americans are plus size, there isn't an awful lot available.

I found that the Walmart.com website was great, I ordered a few bits from their website and had it delivered to Pop Century so it was there waiting for us when we arrived. Anything that doesn't fit can be returned direct to any Walmart store, so that was great.

I did find that with Disney's women t-shirts alot of the sizes were going up to 3xl now, whereas before I was finding I had to buy the mens t-shirts to get the bigger sizes, so was happy with that.

Florida Mall, hmmm, I felt completely let down. I do like Torrid but I thought their prices had gone up quite a bit since last year and I wasn't prepared to pay what they were asking. Sears was great, came away with Lee jeans and 3 tops and again JC Pennies was great too for plus sizes.

I hope that helps :)

i think that lane bryant may have gone out of business, but i'm not sure..
i'll check and post again..
i like their casual tops....nice material and fit (good for exercising in)...but if they no longer exist... :sad2:

last time i was at macy's (two years ago), they had a really nice selection ....

nordstrom has really nice stuff too....i'm pretty sure there's a nordstrom in orlando...i'll look it up and see which mall it's in..
their selection is more expensive than walmart, but much much much much much better quality (and styling)....the same is true of macy's selection..

kmart used to have a nice plus size department at reasonable prices, i don't know if they still do (and each kmart is different - so one might have a nice selection, while another in the same city has an awful selection)...and i'm not sure there's still a store in orlando...

and for fancy stuff, saks fifth avenue has lovely, albeit expensive, clothes..
but if you need top quality, designer clothes (for work or whatever), saks usually has a nice selection....if you happen upon a sale, it can be worth it...saks gets into serious markdowns, where it ends up being 60% off...but even at that it's expensive....but for something special, it's worth it..

another store with a good selection of plus size: Kohls....
i'll check to see if there's one in orlando...

editing:
there's a nordstrom at the florida mall - check them out - really nice selection of plus size...better quality than target or walmart

there's also several Kohls stores in orlando, but i suggest you check them online to see where they are... www.kohls.com check the store locator page.. they have plus size - there's is somewhere between walmart and nordstrom in quality..

saks is also at the florida mall - at saks you want to ask for salon z - that's where the plus size clothes are......

I love shopping in orlando as there is so much choice for Plus Sizes, which unfortunately I definitely am. My favs are:

Premium Outlets - Dressbarn Woman - they have some lovely clothes. I have got 2 evening dresses from there in the past and they are great value and loom really good. You can also use the voucher from the Premium Outlets book in this shop.

Florida Mall - nearly every department store goes up to Size 26 - which is 30 UK sizes. Macy's has to be my fav as it has so much choice and it has Ralph Lauren and DKNY in Plus Sizes. My tip is to find the Womans section in each store and just browse around and have fun shopping. In Macys the plus sizes are up the escalator and there's nearly a whole floor of them.

Enjoy your shopping, I know I do over there!

Tina

Oh my god - how could i forgot my absolutely favorite store of all!!

Chico's....however, it only goes from size 4 to size 18 (in US sizes)...
so if you need larger than 18, this isn't the place to go...but up to 18 it's fabulous......

they make absolutely gorgeous clothes that really fit a woman's body...
you can check out their website to see what they offer...
www.chicos.com

they have several stores in orlando, including: Florida Mall, Mall at Millenia, Premium Outlets and Point Orlando..

they have a weird size system...the sizes go from 0 to 3...
size 3 is the equivalent of US plus size 18

and i'll repeat my other recommendations:
--Macys at the florida mall
--Nordstrom at the florida mall
--kohls if you figure out where it is...(check their online store locator)
--Saks Fifth Avenue - also at the florida mall - designer clothers for plus sizes 14 to 24 (US sizes) -- the department you're looking for here is called Salon Z (you'll find here Marina Rinaldi, Eileen Fisher, Juicy Couture, Elie Tahari, Tadashi, and many others)

and saks has an outlet store called Off Fifth - but it's just sort of a grab bag of stuff taken out of their stores, so there's no way to know how much plus size merchandise there is... - this store is located at the International Designer Outlet Centre on I-drive

im confused about the sizes :( i seen 12345 and i have seeen normal 18,20,22,24 ? :confused3

i agree - it's soooooooooooo confusing!!

the 1,2,3,4,5 is ridiculous.....i don't ever know what it means...
you have to ask in the store..
lane bryant used to use that stupid number system too..

basically, i think that 1 and 2 are regular sizes (not plus) and 3, 4 and 5 are plus....with 3 being about an 18, and 4 and 5 bigger than that...

but it's toooooooooooo confusing for words...

in general, i think that plus sizes in the US are sizes 14 up to whatever (some stores carry to larger sizes than others).....saks carries up to US plus size 24 i think..i would guess nordstrom carries about the same as that..

if you look on any of the stores websites, you'll see what the equivalent measurements are for the sizes..

but the best thing is to go into a store and try on the clothes to see what size you are...

sorry Lane Bryant aren't at the florida mall any more ... but they are available online and at the prime outlet on international drive ... or if you're up for a little drive in Altamonte Springs (which I have to confess I've not been to since 1990 so can't really comment on!!)

I have to agree ... you'll find one size in one style fits when it doesn't in another - but I find that in the UK anyway!

I hope I dont upset anyone (certainly not my intention).

I must be a bit strange (well DH thinks so:rotfl2:) but I cant understand why anyone would spend their precious holiday time clothes shopping anywhere in the world (unless its window shopping on 5th Ave in NYC:lmao:)

IMO the americans generally have no better style than we do, and yes there may be shops for larger ladies but are the clothes REALLY any better than you can buy here?
We do have "shopping" days on holiday and spend time wandering the Florida MAll etc and browsing the clothes, but have only found 1 dress that i liked and bought (which was for a special occasion) - i dont think the majority of the clothes are any better style, quality or value than you can find here.

OK - I might not be comparing plus size clothing, but many of the high street shops here carry a wide range of styles and sizes.

I like to buy all my clothes before I go so I dont have to worry about my wardrobe when i'm away.... i'd rather spend my lunchtimes/saturdays shopping and planning for my hols then worrying about what I can find/not find when I'm on holiday, and whether i've got enough/the right clothes with me!

Sorrry guys!
