It's been a while since we've eaten there. I remember the cars being tight for a pooh sized person back then. I think I've gained a few more lbs since then. Do I remember that there are some open cars with chairs rather than the bench seats? We are going to be eating there with someone who's' never experienced it before so I hate to ruin her experience. Do I have to request one of these open cars in advance or just when we get to the podium?

I'm sorry I don't have an answer for you ... I won't be going there until September. But maybe you could call the ADR line and ask? I'll do a search for some pictures and see if I can see anything for you. But I am thinking that most restaurants would have to have seating that could be adjusted for a wheelchair so that means they would have to offer tables with chairs?:confused3
Let me see what I can come up with for you:)

Well that wasn't too hard:thumbsup2
Here's a link to a picture.. and the short answer is Yes, there are cars with chair seating. Hope this helps:goodvibes

And I am thinking that you should call ahead and have it listed as a request on your ADR and call the day of as well. That way they would know one of those tables would be needed at that time.

From what I can recall there are a few open cars and also some picnic table seating. I would request it when you make your ADR and mention it again when you check in. :)

They do have some open cars with chairs. If I remember correctly, there's a car front and a car back with a table or two running lengthwise down the middle and chairs on either side (so that you're facing each other and not the screen). These are in the back row of the drive-in.

We ate there for Lunch in January, and ran into the same problem. When checking in for our reservation, I asked if we could have one of the table cars. I was told that there are only a few and they were set aside for walk-ins. We could wait for the table, but it would be about 45 minutes. Maybe if you stop by the podium a little while before your meal, they can try to hold one for you.

We didn't want to wait 45 minutes, so we tried out one of the regular cars. While I was able to squeeze into the bench, it wouldn't have been comfortable for an entire meal. I noticed at the very back of the drive-in they have a handful of small round umbrella-style picnic tables. Most of them have a fixed bench-style seat (three curved benches around a circular table). But one of them had two benches and a standard chair. Since it was empty, we were able to sit there. I probably wouldn't have been able to fit in the bench seats, but the chair was perfect.

Tx everyone. I just found this on line:

One other MGM problem area is the seating at Sci-Fi Dine-In. This is a GREAT restaurant especially for finicky eaters but the booths are shaped like cars and the table is attached to back of the seat in front of you. This is a tight squeeze. Make sure to ask for a table instead of a booth. These still are shaped like cars in the front but you sit in chairs at a regular table.
