Plus size evening dresses for formal night.

I get a lot of dresses from eshakti.com. They use your measurements and make each dress to your specific size. I particularly like it because they customize to your height, so it's the only place I can get dresses long enough for my 6'3" self. The prices are pretty decent, and the quality has always been good. I have about 10 different dresses from them!

Also... most of their dresses and skirts have POCKETS!!!! :worship:

That is good to hear. I thought they were just another knockoff site. I'll certainly have another look.

Unless you plan to wear it again you really don't *need* floor length. Very few people dress truly formal, in my experience. The little black dress is quite fine and will see use on many occasions after your cruise.

I have a formal wedding to attend this November so that's at least one more. Also, we have a volunteer banquet and a swim team banquet that people dress up for as much (or little) as they like. I wore my LBD on the last cruise and for me I wanted to be dressier.

If you have a Goodwill Resale shop close by, look there.:)

I do all the time. I have never found anything in my size unfortunately. I do buy tons of t-shirts there for up-cycling though. :-)

Amazon! If you are a prime member you can get 2 day shipping and normally they offer free returns.

Have you ever had problems with returns? I did order a pirate costume for my youngest and managed to return it but I do worry that not all of the sellers are backed by Amazon policy.

We are taking advantage of having somewhere to wear formal dresses! The process of shopping forand choosing was exciting, too.

Exactly!

I have ordered several dresses from Cybernetplaza.com. I have always had good luck. Their dresses run a range of sizes and prices. We have to have floor length formal gowns for Mardi Gras and it can get expensive.

Thank you I will try that as well. Funny how none of these sites turn up in a Google search.

www.roamans.com has some really nice formal wear. I bought a nice two piece that consisted of a long georgette skirt that was lined inside and a black tunic that had beautiful beading and sequins sewn on it in swirling patterns. I got a lot of compliments on it. They have similar dresses now. Put into search formal dresses and it should bring you to it. They are always have sales and give you a promo code on the front page. Hope I helped. Have a great cruise. :flower1:

I was pretty skeptical at first, but I found a dress I like that was on special super cheap, so I figured it was worth the gamble. I've never had anything other than excellent clothes from them! Their customer service is pretty on point too... the last item I ordered was mis-delivered by DHL, I sent them an email and had a reply and a phone call within an hour. They had followed up with DHL, had the package picked back up and brought to me, and also gave me a credit.

If you do decide to buy something, watch for a sale week, because they do great specials like buy one get one, or 25% off, or free shipping etc.

We are lucky enough to have several malls and outlets store close to us. I found a dress today that will work for semi formal night, plus it was on sale:yay: at Lane Bryant.

I shop exclusively on Amazon for everything but food most of the time. And sometimes gluten free food! I have never once had an issue returning anything. I have returned many items for different reasons: size didn't fit my camera, wrong description, quality was bad, the color was all wrong and nothing like the picture, etc. Amazon has been apologetic and not had any issues with free return and refund. Fast too! I love the 2 day free shipping and is the main reason I shop there. I just received the waterproof camera for the cruise today...2 day shipping. I love Amazon!

Another way to go is rent the runway, I believe they also have plus sizes.

I always throw it out whenever I see ladies looking for formal wear. You essentially rent a designer gown for a period of time. You can order a few different sizes and they have really nice dresses.

I tend to wear formal dresses once and then they would just sit in the closet!
